A friend of mine kept asking, when studying that building, why it seemed so familiar? Someone else in that class had the same question.
The answer is that it seemed familiar because they had played Serious Sam.
The opening tone, there was such an idealized wholesome small town feel. That created a strong expectation that we'd be watching something like Mr. Rogers in Mayberry. Then abruptly this guy watering his lawn grabs his chest and falls dead, and the camera dives into the ground to watch ants...
I thought he was being a jerk, and I let him know it.
He defended himself surprisingly well. He came off
well, made me feel like maybe I was the jerk.
You don't have to agree, but I think it's fair to make
a retraction just as public as the accusation. That
seems right to me.
