1500 Year Old Bible Confirms That Jesus Christ Was Not Crucified – Vatican In Awe

Oooooh Nooooes!

Much to the dismay of the Vatican, an approx. 1500-2000 year old bible was found in Turkey, in the Ethnography Museum of Ankara. Discovered and kept secret in the year 2000, the book contains the Gospel of Barnabas – a disciple of Christ – which shows that Jesus was not crucified, nor was he the son of God, but a Prophet. The book also calls Apostle Paul “The Impostor”. The book also claims that Jesus ascended to heaven alive, and that Judas Iscariot was crucified in his place.

Someone please explain to me how or why this text - much closer to an "original" than any other known text - is not venerated in its own right, and Christian dogma not based thereon?

Wjoa - interesting!

Although my skepticism started pinging at this line...

The text maintains a vision similar to Islam, contradicting the New Testament’s teachings of Christianity. Jesus also foresees the coming of the Prophet Muhammad, who would found Islam 700 years later.

So, Judas died for our sins and only got 30 pieces of silver in compensation? What a rip-off.

_AND_ he didn't get to rise on the third day. he's still in hell.

I think this is a project from the Department of Because You'll Believe Anything.

There were more books, but a hippo decided what would and wouldn't make the cut way back when during the Great Cut and Paste in the late 300's.

This book means nothing to any historical research on Jesus himself.

It was written after 400 CE and is just a arabic reflection of the movement at a much later date.

Nothing to see here at all folks.

I don't know. The 3/20 Truther movement in the second century asserted that the crucifixion tale was the only surviving remnant of the Imperial cover up of a zombie invasion in the Jerusalem area. If that's the case then it's quite possible that Judas rose up again, only to have a Roman solider stab him in the head with a spear.

BBC Radio 4 had a programme tonight where I thought they discussed the prequel to Exodus! They did not however discuss what I thought was obvious!

The Tale of Sinuhe
Duration: 43 minutes
First broadcast: Thursday 01 May 2014
Melvyn Bragg and his guests discuss The Tale of Sinuhe, one of the most celebrated works of ancient Egyptian literature. Written around four thousand years ago, the poem narrates the story of an Egyptian official who is exiled to Syria before returning to his homeland some years later. The number of versions of the poem, which is known from several surviving papyri and inscriptions, suggests that it was seen as an important literary work; although the story is set against a backdrop of real historical events, most scholars believe that the poem is a work of fiction.

Considering that Christianity arose in a time of much conflict, it's not surprising that there would be conflicting texts.

The vatican has already said "Ni"

But alas, this extraordinary discovery is probably a hoax, the work of a forger who, according to some, could have been a European Jewish scholar from the Middle Ages. The most factual criticisms have come from the Syriacs. Indeed, anyone who speaks modern Assyrian (also known as neo-Aramaic) will find the inscription on the so-called ‘Gospel of Barnabas’ easy to read. However errors are just as easy to make out. Apparently, the main inscription, in a modern transliteration, reads: ‘b-shimmit maran paish kteewa aha ktawa al idateh d-rabbaneh d-dera illaya b-ninweh b'sheeta d-alpa w-khamshamma d-maran’. This apparently means: ‘In the name of the Lord, this book is written by monks of the high monastery in Nineveh in the 1500th year of our Lord.’

Common mistake. No body has gone to heaven or hell. They are all lying in their graves. The day of judgment has not come.

Poor Aquinas. Not able to look down on the justly suffering yet!

Heh... got kicked off CARM one time for starting a thread asking about the purpose of eternal torture. If it's eternal, then there's no chance of rehab, right? So for whose benefit is it designed? Never did get any straight answer, but plenty of threats a la "you'll find out!". :D :D :D

Don't hold your breath.
