Basic Beliefs
I believe in a higher power but I don't believe it's an old man watching every move that every human makes so he can when we screw up and condemn us to an eternity in hell.
Trump nominates and the bobblehead senate approves an antivaxxer as head of HEalth and Human services. And now we look at egg prices...the suggestion is that instead of killing chickens, just get a vaccine that we say doesn't work and let the chickens keep laying eggs and eat them anyways.

The questions get technical.
1. Will the hens eat laundry pellets with bleach? Perhaps if Melania records a tape of her chicken imitations, to be played in the broiler house? ("Rikki-rikki-roo! Rikki-Roooo! Ri--Donalt, I cannot do it. I cannot. In Slovenia, we not sing to them, we chust wring their fucken neck!!")
2. Can Bobby Kennedy actually get a light bulb up a chicken's ass? I think he did this in college, so this one is a yes.
3. It may come to down to Kristi Noem going in the broiler house with a puppy, explaining to the hens that they better rat out the sick ones, or else -- and then bust a cap on the puppy.
4. Remember the administration's mantra: Good Science Comes With a Hex. And one day, it's like a miracle, it will disappear. (I'm referring to the administration.)
5. <wet Trump fart>

So, the goal is to prevent transmission, by having better barriers. That means wild animals can't cross paths with farm animals. Let me emphasize that word "animals" not chickens. This disease is in cows and other animals. It is spreading well because it can infect lots of different animals who come into contact with one another. This isn't an issue of just keep the chickens indoors. And this virus seems to be easy to reacquire, which limits the benefits of vaccination.

Well, I’m sure the Congress wouldn’t have confirmed RFK Jr if they didn’t think he was capable of taking this on, right?

NPR article.

There was a piece on the All Things Considered that I can't find that puts the risk into perspective. This administration isn't up to managing risks. And this can become a large problem without becoming transmittable to humans. Monte Carlo'ing it at the moment.

I’m sure we can rely on the Trump administration to as effectively and professionally handle a new epidemic as expertly as they handled the last one, yes?

At least a million Americans are not here to say they hope not.

The only upside is that in this slash and burn, Trump and Musk have laid off pretty much every potential scapegoat, so anything negative will rest squarely on them.

Actually those incidents arise opportunities to tighten their grip more. There is always someone left to blame. You know, like sabotage. Or straight up denial and silencing people reporting on what is happening.

There is always someone else to blame. Musk and Zuck will algorithm it straight to the devices. And the rest will be on Fox/Newsmax/OAN

I think you underestimate the ability of Trump and his supporters to find a scapegoat for pretty much anything that happens anywhere in the world at any time (past or future).

You may be right....how many MAGA believe that Ukraine started the war? They would make good North Koreans....If Trump came off the golf course and said he had 8 holes in one, they'd believe him.

Something like FBI officials saying they're gonna start going after the media?

Also, don't Google that. It will make you sad.

And consider the reality of his scream test approach to figuring out what's needed: it will virtually always miss safety margins and the like.

Let's scream test the local shopping mall. Fence off half the spaces, does anyone but the naysayers complain? No. What happens when the Christmas season hits?
