The Workplace Gender Equality Agency is the Agency tasked with administering the Workplace Gender Equality Act 2012.
Its leadership team is 100% female
In its Annual Report, we get a breakdown of its staffing (appendix 7), which shows there are 9 women at senior levels (executive level 1/2 and the agency head), and 0 men at these levels.
27 out of 29 staff are women as at June 2015.
Amusingly, the WGEA talks about its diversity goals here
Why wouldn't anyone of any gender who is suitable make the candidates for interview? Do they intend to discriminate against female applicants to achieve this goal?
And here I thought it should be taken for granted that roles are open to both men and women. What is WGEA doing wrong that men think roles aren't open to them?
Shouldn't the contractor or consultant who is best suited to undertake the work be selected?
This means they've committed to having at least one man in their senior team by 2017. Currently, of course, that number is zero.
(As an aside, the agency is also guilty of using a term that is a pet peeve of mine -- describing someone as from a 'culturally and linguistically diverse' background -- which is never spelled out explicitly but usually means people who are not white or who did not speak English as a first language. But even as the SJWs intend this to be inclusive, it is one of the most insulting things I've ever heard. Nobody comes from a 'culturally and linguistically diverse' background, they come from whatever culture they come from. Cultural and linguistic diversity is a context-dependent, emergent phenomenon of two or more people, it is not a property that belongs to any individual. Ugh).
Now, why has WGEA been such an epic failure in its diversity and equality goals? Note it can't be because men and women make different choices and have different interests and abilities on average, that's clearly an insane thing to think.
No, WGEA must have systematically discriminated against men.
Luckily, it isn't bound by the Act it enforces against other companies. That would be, like, embarrassing!
