Christian activist Theodore Shoebat dedicated his most recent video to railing against the evils of Hinduism, declaring that if he was a dictator, he would invade India, destroy all Hindu temples and force everyone to convert to Christianity. After complaining, without a hint of irony, that he regularly gets compared to ISIS for his beliefs, Shoebat proclaimed that he would not hesitate to invade India and force all Hindus to convert to Christianity while also outlawing the practice of yoga in America.

So Teddy Shoebomb is the son of Walid Shoebat a former PLO terrorist. Who'da thunk?

Listening to his dad now, doesn't seem as crazy.

Why do you refer to him as an "activist?" Are members of ISIS Muslim activists?

Well the article linked does refer to him as "Extremist right-wing activist Theodore Shoebat".
Looking at some of the other stuff he's quoted as saying, comparing him to ISIS might even be an understatement.

It's sad how delusional someone has to be to consider Yoga to be part of some evil mastermind's plan.

It's basically the same as if some non-Christian religious leader declared that eating wine and crackers as a snack was engaging in the Christian Rite of Holy Communion.

The Christian crazies have been barking at yoga for years now. At least 20 years ago the crazies were barking that yoga was anti-christian, pagan and a satanic spiritual deception. I faintly remember long ago a campaign by the crazies to ban yoga in some New York schools on that hysterical basis. Not to mention some campaigns against trancedental meditation.

This is one of those instances where right wing nutters and left wings nutters have essentially converged to the same end goal, but for different reasons. Idiots, both of them.

https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/morning-mix/wp/2015/11/23/university-yoga-class-canceled-because-of-oppression-cultural-genocide/

In studios across the nation, as many as 20 million Americans practice yoga every day. Few worry that their downward dogs or warrior poses disrespect other cultures.

But yoga comes from India, once a British colony. And now, at one Canadian university, a yoga class designed to include disabled students has been canceled after concerns the practice was taken from a culture that “experienced oppression, cultural genocide and diasporas due to colonialism and western supremacy,” according to the group that once sponsored it.

Concerns. What's worst, that which spawned the concern or the sheer fact there were those that felt it worthy of concern? It reminds me of my use of the word, "issue" a good long while back in the political forum.

Is there really such a person named Theodore Shoebat?
There certainly seems to be, though I hadn't really bothered to try and figure out if he had any following. He gets mentioned periodically on rightwingwatch.org, as one of the flakier flakes.

But recently he got a Special Acknowledgment from Scott Lively, when he composed a list of 2015's "Top Ten Pro-Family Heroes" (he didn't make the top 10 cut). But then Lively evidently decided that this creep was even too psycho for his listing...and quietly de-listed him.

So, since you asked I googled him. Evidently he has about 9500 Facebook fans. Not really a large number. But for the insanity he seems to spew via YouTube videos, that is still impressive in a sick sort of way:
https://www.facebook.com/theodore.shoebat

He even has his own Wiki page, kind of a pathetic sort of cretin:

To ISIS they are, yes.

Yoga? What's that got to do with anything?

It represents a kind of 'spiritualism' that contradicts the philosophy of the Abrahamic religions.

the 'bark' against yoga was far more recent than that. In 2015 an attempt to ban yoga from public schools as 'religious indoctrination' was posed.

Google, yoga, spiritual deception. Foamy lipped Christian hysteria over yoga is rampant, and has grown into a common Christian meme. Wear your rubber boots. The hysterical drool is ankle deep.

Who gives a fuck? Before this, I had never heard of this guy. Today it's so easy for us to get alarmed at every internet posting. I'm sure there's plenty of people with similar views, and always have been. If not Yoga, it's something else, gays, blacks, squirrels, etc. Anyone can record themselves on a webcam making all sorts of goofball claims like this moron. But why is an organization like rightwing watch giving him the time of day and bothering to help him repeat his message of hatred and bigotry? If he were someone important, I could understand, but this article seems to fan the flames and makes it sound like he's some big wig in the right wing world. But outside of his web postings he's a nobody. So why bother repeating his message and help him spread it?

Oh my gosh, stop persecuting Christians!!!!!!

It doesn't count as terrorism unless he actually beheads someone. [/christianapologist]
