Como High teacher criticized by Black Lives Matter on paid leave
Twin Cities Pioneer Press said:
Black Lives Matter St. Paul leader Rashad Turner last week threatened to “shut down” Como High unless Olson was fired over what Turner considered to be racially charged comments on school discipline.
[..]
Olson suggested last week on Facebook that the district’s efforts to keep students in school and out of jail are “enabling student misconduct.” He also complained that teachers weren’t getting enough help to deal with misbehavior.

“Since we now have no backup, no functional location to send kids who won’t quit gaming, setting up fights, selling drugs, whoring trains, or cyber bullying, we’re screwed, just design our own classroom rules,” Olson wrote.
What exactly is so outrageous about what Olson wrote? And why did the school sacrifice him to appease the #BLM thugs (if you threaten to shut down a school if you don't get your way you are a thug?
And this shows that Olson is very much right about discipline at Como High.

Some students don't need to be kept "in school and out of jail".

Not sure. Maybe like a myspace train, but with whoring instead of a cheap-ass looking website.

I've been in high school in the wrong fucking decade.

You are on the planet in the wrong fucking century. Now we have processes that can ameliorate such as Olson bloviates. Got problems? Wave hands wave hands and point fingers. Yeah that's the ticket. Its like I say. Get leaders to practice good behavior by some incentive and minions will follow. All Olson does is observe and wave hands. Well if you aren't going to help at least get out of the way so others can. Lives matter, and here we're talking about black lives.

Answer to Yahoo question what is/are whoring trains?
Schools are having problems with students because they are not interested in learning.

They spend most of their time on the internet in websites, such as FB, YA, ask.fm, twitter and the like, to gain attention and therefore, get friends, likes, and contacts, which they then use to advertise to others how popular they are, sometimes to put others, in school, or on the internet, down.

Attention whores who fail to get attention in their real life, or have no friends = whoring trains on the internet.

Yeah, Derec, you're right. You'd be Drama King of your high school if you were a decade or two younger.

So Mr Olson works for every high school in America. Interesting.

Did anybody claim that? Or did we claim the opposite - that many high schools in America regardless of city or region share similar problems and therefore one doesn't have to be at all of them.

Yeah, Derec, you're right. You'd be Drama King of your high school if you were a decade or two younger.
Not what I meant at all, but don't let that obvious fact detract from your equally obvious ad hominem.

Is there a point buried there somewhere?

How would someone living in Georgia know the "truth" about what goes in a high school in Minnesota?

There's nothing magical about a school in Minnesota. The same basic problems apply everywhere.
Mr. Olson was not writing about high schools everywhere - he was writing about a high school in Mn. The situation is about a HS in Mn. Your generalization is not only irrelevant but wrong: not every high school has the same problems.

We all know what you meant but it's ironic that you were still correct while using the term incorrectly. Just to clear things up, it's not an ad hominem to state a fact that your numerous ops are quite dramatic--it's just a fact. You do take the prize here for writing attention-getters.

That isn't a fault of the school system though. It is a fault of society dismantling it's government run safety nets and mental health system because it's 'too expensive' in the same way that the Rayndians want to dismantle welfare and social security and the ACA. They are too dumb or blind to understand that dismantling our public infrastructure is only going to make this problem worse.

This is exactly the fault of economic 'libertarian' policies. Us 'LIBERALS' want to spend more money on education, children, and mental health infrastructure. We want to spend the money on kids not tanks. You want to spend the money on criminal training centers, which take in kids and pump out hardened, uneducated criminals who resent a country sending them to a dark hole where they get raped, so that they grow up and have kids (and they WILL have kids) they teach them to hate the system that gave them nothing but rape and torture.

Anecdotal, but one of my coworkers went to that school. She stated that the attitude of some of the teachers are that the kids are just going to be criminals anyway, so why teach them? She wants those teachers fired. She went on about how demoralizing these attitudes are and just perpetuate a "culture of failure".
