My understanding is that really isn't accurate.

Nunes temporarily stepped away from the Russia investigation, but remains the chairman. He will be awaiting a whitewashing of his unethical behavior by the Republican controlled House Ethics Committee. Paul Ryan voiced support for Nunes despite grossly violating a number of ethic rules and a law as well.
