  • Austin Harrouff, 19, uploaded many fitness tutorials on YouTube, including one five days before Florida knife attack
  • In that final video, a shirtless Harrouff explains why he has rejected steroids
  • In other videos, he speaks with different fake accents while driving a car
  • Austin's mother contacted police Monday to report that her son claimed to have superpowers and said he was 'here to protect people'
  • During the 911 call, she describes that he's wearing a red 'Make America Great Again' hat with white shorts and a blue shirt
  • He is accused of beating to death Michelle Mishcon, 53, and stabbing to death John Stevens III, 59
  • He was observed by police biting pieces of flesh off Stevens' face
  • It took four deputies and a K9 dog to tear him away from Stevens' body
  • Austin has been in ICU on a ventilator but his condition was upgraded to stable Wednesday

I read this incident happened a couple of years ago. But what is going on with all these mental health things in Florida? Is something under-funded? Also, just because he wore a MAGA hat (if true) doesn't mean every Republican is crazy.

He claimed to not be using steroids and did several videos about not using them and his workout techniques. Of course he could have been lying.

It was a thing when "bath salts" were easily available.

"Bath salts" was my first thought, too, but the article also had this:

While initial drug tests came up negative for cocaine, methamphetamines, marijuana and opiates, investigators will also be testing Harrouff for flakka and bath salts.

Daily Mail on Wednesday spoke to an acquaintance of Harrouff's from FSU, who speculated that steroids may have played a role in Monday's vicious attack.

'I don't think it was flakka or any sort of hallucinogen,' said the FSU student, who asked not to be named. 'I just think that this kid had a steroids dependency and had a bad, bad roid rage that night.

'I can anonymously attest that this guy had gotten bigger and bigger at alarming rates throughout our first year of college.'

Just curious... why the current thread on this incident?

According to past conservative arguments, we can judge all conservatives by what this person did.

I've tried explaining to conservatives why they should not use anecdotes to judge entire populations, and every time I do, I am told that I am stupid and attacking their free speech rights. Since conservatives are never wrong, the logic of their arguments is therefore impeccable, and we should judge all conservatives by what bozos like this (he's far from the only one) do.

So now conservatives have to explain why they are a terrorist organization and explain why they aren't doing something to stop the terrorists in their own ranks.

Firstly, merely wearing a MAGA hat isn't proof of you being a conservative. He could easily have been a Trump supporter but who knows.

Secondly, this case looks like a crazy person rather than anyone motivated by political ideology. I mean, political ideology could always be a factor in the mix, but he may just be bonkers and politics has nothing to do with it. Not every crazy person is a "terrorist".

The threat of right-wing violence may perhaps be higher in the US compared to left-wing violence; but from what I remember of worldwide statistics, it's actually the left-wing that has been more dangerous recently.

"According to the report, the second largest category of terrorism perpetrators in 2011 after Sunni extremists was “secular, political, and anarchist groups,” which were primarily identified as Marxist, communist sympathizers."

And of course, yes, we *shouldn't* judge whole populations just by anecdotal evidence. But when it comes to a religion like Islam, we can judge it on things like, (1) the Quran and hadith (2) sources on the behaviour of the early Muslims (3) sharia law sources (4) commentaries on the quran by notable muslims (5) the behaviour of Muslims historically, taking into account to what degree they were commanded or inspired by their religion in their actions (6) statistical evidence for what kind of views are held by Muslim populations today (7) statistical evidence for say, whether Muslim populations living in the West are more of a terror threat than other religious groups, where any difference could be plausibly explained by religion.

Of course none of this amounts to "judging all by the actions of one". Judging a religion is not the same thing as judging all followers of a religion either. Of course you can judge the percentages that may be rather fundamentalist, if you have e.g. polling evidence for that.

You may be able to perhaps judge political movements in a similar way, but it wouldn't be fully the same, as e.g. political movements probably don't have a core document over hundreds of years that is supposed to be the "word of god" that you can't change without messing that up.

I saw it in another forum as news. I think the news may be the revelation about the MAGA hat. If not, I am not sure why it is recent.

Vork, you are kind of thinking uni-dimensionally. Instead of religion, break it down by gender. Then, it's men that are the problem, not Muslims or anarchists. Break it down by conservative vs liberal ideology and it's conservatives that are the problem because you forgot that these radical Muslims are conservatives. Define the problem differently and it's not anarchists at all as their targets are usually property not people. It's the right-wing that has a hard-on for genocide while Marxists try to rid the world of hierarchies except when they don't. Define the problem differently again and the West is as much a problem as the non-West, it's just the West calls the shots, i.e. state terrorism.

But I hope this thread isn't about absolutely everything under the Sun. It started out as about one guy, one incident, one hat. Of course, it's also true that every single conservative is a cannibal, but that's figurative. They usually do not literally eat the flesh off the bones of their neighbors. They just take away their social programs and their social rights in the voting booth. Usually.

Remember a Make America Great Again hat hearkens back to a time the more priviliged were even more priviliged and the down-trodden were moreso. So watching Fox News & Friends is a bath salt to the rabid right and a MAGA hat their steroid.

Florida Man is in cahoots with the state government to prevent black people from coming to and/or registering to vote in Florida.

And randomly yet predictably in comes Derec with a video no one will watch of a black guy. Impeccably irrelevant as always.

And predictably Don2 will bitch and moan about race of actors in a show.

I am not bitching and moaning. I am merely pointing out that yet again, you are posting random videos/images of black men into a thread with little relevance. If you want to stop people from pointing out that you post random videos and images of black men in threads, you might not want to post random videos and pictures of black men in threads.

There is a relevance. And the two black men in the video are not real anyway. It's just a funny clip from a TV show that's about a conspiracy theory about the "Florida Man". The relevance to this thread is that the OP was started pointing out that FM (from two years ago no less!) in question had a MAGA hat on. Conspiracy fuel for people like Darius.

The op states explicitly that just because he wore a MAGA hat, not every Republican is crazy. Your out-of-context caricature isn't relevant or funny.

Every dipshit wearing a MAGA hat is not necessarily a Republican. And, not every Republican is crazy. But, I submit that anybody wearing a MAGA hat is demonstrably stupid, Republican or Trumpista.
