Don't be a dick.
There were many Christains protesting The Last Temptation of Christ when we went to see it. I asked for a show of hands, who here has seen the movie? No one raised a hand.
So (as my wife went inside, pretending she had no idea who the hell I was), who here is offended because someone else told you to be offended? No one raised a hand, though that was clearly the case.

These idiots just proved they have never seen Good Omens, they're just listening to gossip about it.
Why would anyone bother to listen to the rantings of the demonstrably ignorant?

When The Last Temptation of Christ came out the local government (yes I live in the Bible belt) passed an ordinance against showing it anywhere in the city limits. It was ruled pornography.

So, the “adult” video shops started carrying it, and in order to rent a copy I had to patronize a porn video establishment. Unintended consequences indeed.

but it was porn--like a lot of Christian martyr iconography

Was The Passion of the Christ considered a snuff film also?

Well, almost! I hear Jim Cavaziel was struck by lightning twice during the filming.

I wasn't interested in watching Good Omens, but now I will.

This will certainly be a business school lecture topic in the future. It would be funny if it was later revealed this is the work of a clever PR agent, who was looking for a way to get Johnnycomelately Amazon in the public eye, as a content producer. Nothing gets attention like doing something stupid in public, except maybe thousands of people being stupid at the same time.

The business school lecture will probably address the issue of whether a business should be worried about being boycotted by people who were never going to be a customer, anyway.
