Republicans use 9/11 to cheat.

The Republican legislators in the state House of Representatives took a surprise vote to override Governor Roy Cooper’s veto of the state budget the body had passed earlier while Democrats were largely absent from the chamber, attending a memorial for the victims of the 9/11 terrorist attacks on the anniversary of the deadly assault.

The few Democrats who were present strongly objected to the measure being brought up, claiming that their GOP colleagues had promised not to take up any significant legislation during the early morning session while they were at the memorial service and that the morning proceedings were supposed to be just a formality to get a head start on the workday, according to a report on the controversy by The Raleigh News & Observer.

The GOP in North Carolina must have a steel balls requirement to join.

The Democrats are idiots. It should be quite obvious that the Republicans are utterly not to be trusted.

So don’t attend the 9/11 Remembrance event?

I can just see the campaign ads. "Democrat So-and-So refused to attend a 9/11 Remembrance ceremony because he had 'more important things to do.' Don't re-elect Democrat So-and-So."

All the Republicans could be attacked on the same basis.

The Washington Post is kinda crap.

NC GOP rocked the legislature with a surprise vote. What exactly happened, and why?

Did Republicans break any rules?

No. The budget override was on the calendar for Wednesday’s morning session.

Where were Democrats?

Some headlines suggested that Democrats were at events commemorating the 9/11 attacks — the vote was taken at roughly the same time as the national moment of silence. But The News & Observer has confirmed only two Democrats attended 9/11 events.

One was Cooper, who spoke at the North Carolina National Guard’s Sept. 11 commemoration in Raleigh.

The other was Rep. Garland Pierce, a Scotland County Democrat, who says he attended an event in Raeford.

Did you forget this part?

GOP colleagues had promised not to take up any significant legislation during the early morning session while they were at the memorial service and that the morning proceedings were supposed to be just a formality to get a head start on the workday,

The GOP lied.

According to Trausti's link...
article (my emphasis) said:
Cooper produced a counteroffer to the budget, but instead the House put the budget veto override on the calendar every day, but didn’t call for a vote until Wednesday. Speaker Tim Moore, a Republican, repeatedly told the press and public he would call the vote when he thought he had enough votes for an override.

Documented proof that NC Rs put the scum in the Republiscum Party.

I am shocked... shocked... to learn that there is subterfuge going on in this establishment!

Seriously though, the devil was always a liar. When the sons of the devil lie, they speak their native language, for their father is also the father of lies. And I think we know who the current devil of US Politics is.

So I wonder if the gun-nuts who claim they need their guns to use against tyranny when the government subverts democracy will now show up to these Republican's homes and treat them like the tyrants they are?

Just kidding, I don't wonder that b/c we know that those gun-nuts love tyranny so long as they get to be the tyrants.

But I do wonder whether the "patriots" who get so upset about kneeling during the Anthem will show their outrage over the infinitely greater "disrespect" to our first-responders of using 9/11 as a cover to subvert the democratic will of the people.

Just kidding, I don't wonder that b/c we know those fake "patriots" are just white supremacists who love it whenever their fellow white supremacists pull a fast one.

So, what’s wrong with subvertion?

1) when an act is NOT against the law and thus permissible by law, taking another law that had absolutely nothing to do with the act and utilizing the vagueness to interpret its scope to cover what it never intended is subversion BY THE SUPPOSED GOOD GUYS.

So, when

2) it’s brought to my attention that while an act is not technically against THE LETTER OF THE LAW but instead merely against THE SPIRIT OF THE LAW, I’m reminded of the hypocrisy when THE BAD GUYS don’t care.

THAT (pay for my mistakes for which none ever was, so says a read of technicality) among other wtf’s breeds the seeds of bitterness and resentment. Just the seeds. The abilty to appreciate right for right and wrong for wrong has not yet faded and withered.

BUT, the bombardment of relentless like-wise commensurate tactics in the political arena of one being slick and the other more clever forever entangled in a strategy of one-upism forges in my mind that we have in our midst a state of political war where it’s the shrewd that is ironically the more deserving of admiration.

So,

3) when members of one group fucks over another group, and we balance the moral oughts and legal shoulds, I’m afraid I’m sliding down the rail that follows the word of the law when the consequences are too severe to suffer and to hell with what’s right and wrong when the costs are easily enough covered.

Yet, that’s no good way to be; moreover, an applause to those that do is probably best left in silence.

Because our future ones need not pack the same level of jadedness in their fight for a better world.

Quite a few words to not say anything.

Also, one-upism? You do realize this is the same NC GOP that passed laws restricting the powers of a Democrat Governor between his election and inauguration? The same NC GOP that had to redo an election because of actual voter fraud? That keeps getting their redistricting maps found unconstitutional in their state.

Pedant.

What kind of response is wanted?

Fast responds (take 2):

The Republicans were brilliant in their ability to prioritize the importance of securing the benefits of a budget vote win over the attendance of a yesteryear tragedy’s ceremony. How you play may be important in sports, but in politics, constituents expect results.

Better?

They did that in Wisconsin (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tony_Evers#Tenure):

After the 2018 election, the Republican-controlled Wisconsin Legislature met in a lame-duck session and, three weeks before Evers took office, passed legislation to reduce the powers of the incoming governor and attorney general.

Did they also do it in NC?
