Russia doesn't seem to be supporting Sanders instead of Trump, but both Sanders and Trump in their respective primaries (if the info is correct). In this case, Trump needs no help in the primary. If Sanders win, Russia might work for both, as a means of sowing discord in the US. It looks like they like polarizing candidates (and also there are some other reasons).

Why? Why get rid of the acting intelligence chief? Someone who Trump personally appointed by the way.

I can see why Russia might want the US to stop building missile sites on their borders, that's for sure. But I just don't get how bringing down all of the western world would help them. If anything, I see Russia as trying to integrate themselves part of the western economy. Actually, I think all of the world (including Russia) have seen how a capital market economy has benefited neighborhing China and they have also seen first hand how communism failed in what used to be the USSR.

I think he is far far more worried about China right now. And considering the immense power of Asia right now, he is right about feeling that way.

Furthermore, let me ask you what you think Trump should or could do about Russia right now? If what you believe is true, it is actually our intelligent agencies who have failed the US. They should be knowing ahead of time what Russia could or is doing. And they should be putting into place the software internet remedies that need to be done. It is our intelligence agencies who have let the US down and in a better world Trump could and would fire them all. I don't think that Russia wants to "destroy America". I think that they simply want to knock us down a peg, reduce our soft power, and lower our influence in Eastern Europe. Knocking us down a peg will result in easier to defend measures to weaken democracy in Russia. Who would want the mess in America? Weakening our soft power makes it far more expensive to conduct our foreign policy. For example, it used to be evident that if we told a country or a group that we would help them, and that they can count on us, we could be believed. But Trump has fucked that up. No group will trust us after we've unilaterally left treaties and screwed the Kurds (among others). The American word is shit now. And finally, Russia wants to increase it's sphere of influence in Eastern Europe. They want greater soft power. They could either play nice and treat it's neighbors fairly; or they can claim that the US is far worse, trust us. Russia is better than the US! And it's working. Trump is greatly helping Putin and his cronies.

Sanders is a very rare breed of politician having a unique built in state of integrity I've not ever seen anywhere else.
