Calling all beer lovers:I have a question about meat beers

I both enjoy and brew beer, but I am something of a purist, and generally avoid beer with flavourings other than malted grains, hops, and yeast. In general, anything that's a source of sugars or convertible starches can contribute to alcohol production, and so things like fruit and honey can make some sense. Meat though doesn't strike me as a very good choice. Beer is primarily bitter and/or sweet; Some styles can also be sour, though typically that's considered something to avoid. Salty and umami flavours really don't strike me as desirable, and meat is basically umami.

Those flavours are more traditionally provided by the foods eaten with beer - particularly the salty flavour which pairs very well. Adding salt or umami flavour directly to beer? Not my idea of a good time. I might try it if someone I trusted recommended it, or if someone else was paying.

If I want meat with my beer, I will eat meat while drinking beer. I don't want it in the same glass.
