In a hearing about violence against Asians (thanks Trump), Rep Chip Roy (TX-*) started off with a quip about needing big trees and more rope.

Of course, this probably isn't the greatest thing to mention in a hearing about violence. Some took it to be speaking of public lynchings, but I can see it being about pro-capital punishment... kill the wrong doers. The trouble I have is his response.

Apparently some folks are freaking out that I used an old expression about finding all the rope in Texas and a tall oak tree about carrying out justice against bad guys. ... I meant it. We need more justice and less thought police. We need to stop evil doers – such as those who carried out the attack in Atlanta this week, or cartels abusing little children, or those who kill our cops on the streets. We should restore order by tamping out evil actors… not turn America into an authoritarian state like the Chinese Communists who seek to destroy us. No apologies.

WTF is that garbled mess supposed to mean? He knew he had time to write stuff down and think the response over, right?

We need more justice... less thought police. Okay, did we stop prosecuting murder? Are the courts saturated with cases about people saying mean things so that we can't prosecute murders anymore?

Need to restore order! While we must prosecute those that commits crime, this whole "restore order" reeks of Fascist / Authoritarian wannabee banter. We need to get tough to restore order! But order isn't exactly all that out of order. Crime still is near record lows, even despite it rising under the Trump Administration.

Not turn America into an authoritarian state like the Chinese Communists?! Okay, it is like he was rifling buzzwords/phrases from a list and didn't care about the context. Because what in the heck does America turning into an authoritarian state have to do with anything he mentioned earlier? We need to be tough on crime... not turn the US into an authoritarian states that... isn't tough on crime... and only prosecutes thought crimes?

Now let's be fair. I tripped going up the stairs last week. Needing two hands to drink a glass of water that is rather on the small side... Nope, hasn't happened to me since I was 3. I'll cradle a cup of tea to warm my hands, but a cold glass of water? What's the deal with that?

Besides, two instances of questionable dexterity in a short timeframe is the start of a pattern, one is just a fluke. How should we then categorize the two articles above?

Trump continues to destroy the Post Office, even out of office.

"Our plan takes a holistic view of the organization and is meant to elevate our business, competitiveness, and our ability to meet the needs of the nation," DeJoy told reporters in a press briefing.

How will they do this?

Longer first-class mail delivery times and cuts to post office hours across the country are among some of the changes embattled Postmaster General Louis DeJoy announced Tuesday as part of a 10-year plan for the agency.

Remember, to make something better, you need to make it worse!

Citing two people briefed on his strategic plan for the US Postal Service, the paper reported that DeJoy has outlined getting rid of a type of two-day-delivery first class mail, which includes envelope-sized mail sent locally. All first-class mail would thus be sent in the three- to five-day range currently set for nonlocal mail, according to the Post.

He said he had requested feedback from lawmakers as well as industry, union and management leaders regarding "successfully fixing problems that are preventing the Postal Service from meeting the American people's expectations for reliability."

The mail was doing fine until he took over! This is like the GOP and voter fraud. They are trying to fix something that isn't broken... and breaking it in the process of "fixing it".

Or how 'bout a press conference from the White House doctor saying that there's no reason Biden can't live to be 200 years old! Just make sure said doctor isn't involved in anything like drinking on the job or sexual harassment. It might look bad, yet later get him elected to Congress as a Texas Republican.
