Pastor Who Said the True Vaccine Was “Jesus Christ” Now Admits He Got His Shots

Hagee said Jesus was the best vaccine/cure for COVID, but he got his shots. Where the rubber meets the road, where reality really scares believers, there is no Jesus and they know it.

Back in October, we learned that John Hagee, the senior pastor of Cornerstone Church in San Antonio, Texas, tested positive for COVID.

His son Matthew said at the time that his father was “receiving extremely good medical treatment.” He’s lucky he could afford it. That’s not necessarily true of the congregation he was putting in danger by hosting in-person, indoor, mask-optional, not-very-socially-distanced services.

When Hagee returned to church in November, no changes were made reflecting the seriousness of the virus. The pastor didn’t tell anyone to take it seriously, either. Instead, he told them to just trust Jesus.

Right now it is very much political. We have members of congress who believe in religious magic and base decisions on the beliefs.

It's tempting to say there's a special place in Hell for preachers.

Almost makes you want hell to exist, if that means a place of punishment for truly awful people, like Hagee, who do truly awful things, like jeopardize the well being of his congregation on top of the general religious con he perpetuates.

Obviously pandemics and plagues only kill those who are not faithful enough. So apparently 1/3 of Europeans in the 1300s were heathens taken out by bubonic plague. God only gave Hagee a non-fatal case to warn him to double down on his preaching.

ETA:
Religious apologetics is too easy.

As a side note on his trip to Iraq the pope said god would protect his people from COVID.

The same Jesus that can't cure or prevent COVID.

We may be at a point where COVID deaths will start to decrease (in spite of the religious and right wingers determined to serve as superspreaders) due to vaccines and all the people and organizations who are actually sticking to the measures proven to reduce contagion, but if the number of deaths and serious cases continue as they have been, I think a lot of these dumbasses like Hagee and Mr. COVID Machines will be facing legal consequences as their congregations get sick and begin to value their lives and family members more than they value religious conformity and obedience.

He has admitted no such thing.

It is implicit in what he says. But his flock isn't comprised of the sharpest sheep in the dip.
Implications escape them more often than not.

It's the classic case of posturing to have it both ways. "Hey, I did load the gun, I did take aim, I did pull the trigger, but never in my wildest dreams did I ever intend harm to anyone."
