Help me find poetry software!

Hey guys. I'd love some help.

I like writing poetry. And over the years I've become more and more technical in how I like to do it. So I want an app for support.

I want to be able to pick rhyme, meter and foot and there's some visual guide to help show it on the page. I want rhyme, syllables and stresses shown. I want an inbuilt thesaurus, and suggestions for improvements. Or more importantly, warnings when it's broken.

I've tried googling this. But I can't finding a good program for it. I've been looking for something for years.

I've considered making a program like this myself. Because technically, it's not that difficult. Any free online dictionary contains all the necessary meta data to do all of the above. Which makes me wonder, why it's so hard to find a program like this? Somebody must surely have made something like this already?

The only apps I find for this is inspo type apps. Or poem generators. Or making your poem pretty on the page. Not technical support apps. There's plenty of apps for musical notation. Which is basically the same thing. So it should exist for this to?

I'd be surprised if a robust piece of software like this exists, but it's definitely possible. Not many people read, far fewer read poetry, fewer than that write poetry.. and those who would even look for software that's equivalent to a poetry IDE? It's hard to imagine anyone going to the effort of writing software like this.

Yeah, maybe I should just do it myself. I can't think of any reason it would be hard. It's just lots of work.

I've little desire to keep writing my bad poetry, and zero desire to do so with a tool. (I did click to on-line lists of rhyming words when I composed a villanelle about Trump.) And I lack the patience to Google these mentioned softwares, but despite all this the topic interests me!

Which of these softwares is best? What are the best features?

It seems like the most tedious part of the job of creating such software would be to acquire and parse a list of English words with phonetic form. I suppose Wiktionary could be used as a cost-free starting-point for that.

Recalling a post by one of TFT's own poets, [MENTION=556]WAB[/MENTION], I checked Wiktionary's entry for "million." It shows it as a trochee but, as WAB mentioned, Shakespeare's plays contain multiple instances of "million" or "millions" to be pronounced with THREE syllables as part of iambic verse (and thereby emphasizing a meaningful word). Poetry software which knows only the default 2-syllable pronunciation might make it HARDER to find that form.

I don't recall seeing you in any of them? Course, I could be wrong.

I'm way too shy for that. I'd love to. But I'm a bit insecure about my writing. I have wanted to post many times. But haven't managed yet.

Aw, don't be shy! My poetry is bloody awful, and it doesn't stop me from inflicting it on people without warning, haha.
