Major League Baseball

So perhaps some of you sports heads will know the answer to this, I admittedly do not, just wondering. Are ALL of these major league baseball team owners socialists? Are they ALL subsidized by the public? Do any of these owners build their own shrines/cathedrals/stadiums sans socialist public funding? And how much public $ do they rake in from the military for staging these patsiotic homages to US imperialism, militarism and endless war at games?

Acuna catching some grief for admiring a line drive instead of hustling down the line.

Dodgers were outstanding in their demolition of Washington, gave poor Hendricks a torrid time. Rendon made an outstanding stop at third base and made a fantastic throw to first which was not in time to get the out and allowing (Bellinger?) to make it to third base from first. Dodgers offense is very strong, hopefully the pitching can stay strong.

1 down, 10 to go. :cheer:

I have one question. How is it possible that Kendrick is hitting .344?

Uh-oh, trouble in Chavez Ravine. Kershaw had a shaky start and labored through the first couple of innings while Washington starting pitcher Strasburg was excellent. In fact the Washington bullpen kept the Dodger bats very quiet. Bottom of the ninth, bases loaded with two outs and Seager struck out. Ugh.

Dodgers bounce back and thrash the Nationals 10-4 after going behind early in a very entertaining game. I think the Dodgers will close it out tonight.

Kershaw only gave up 3 runs and only got 2 runs support. Headlines were going on about how he had a bad game. This is his post ace period his career, he's still good just not great. Compared to his past playoff performances, it was an improvement.

Scherzer tonight, so LA will have to hope for a short outingn from him.

Not his worst post season performance but when he's hitting batters and giving up hits/runs it makes us all a bit nervous. He recovered very well.

Think of a well know phrase that rhymes with "clucking bell". Dodger bats were left in the dug out seems. I'm still confident of winning the series though.

Buehler at home sounds good.

Yankees sweep with dominance, everyone else goes 5 games, St. Louis makes it there most dramatically.

I would rather see Verlander go up against Flaherty, the veteran vs. the kid.

Of course, I may be just a bit biased against Scherzer at this point...

I don't have any preference in the national league, but having followed the Tigers on their run between 11 - 14 I've got a soft spot for both pitchers. Scherzer was (still is) unstoppable, and it'd be nice to see him get a championship, but I'm sure his salary is a nice consolation prize.

Outside of that I'm leaning towards the Astros, but only because I don't know anything about the national league and the alternative is the Yankees.

Roberts screws it up again, Kershaw has a spectacular and predictable wobble and Kelly sinks the Dodgers two seasons in a row.

Scherzer and Flaherty actually match up pretty well, with Flaherty having a slightly better ERA. Cards and Nats meet up tomorrow night for game 1 of the NLCS, so we are about to see how that matchup plays out. The Cards have a better bullpen, so I think that gives them the edge in the series, if they can just keep Martinez sober. I am a Cards fan, however, so once again I am likely showing a bit of bias.

*Gives blastula a hug*

Eh, I didn't see them going too far, and I don't mind losing so much to Washington, they have had some tough season enders themselves. That's a harrowing town for a sports fan.

I didn't see the game but was checking the scoreboard, and when I saw that Kershaw was now pitching, I thought "oh fuck." Too predictable. Feel bad for him that he is going to have his playoff failures as his legacy. They didn't bother to get any real pitching help. Kelly was ridiculously overhyped all season. Next year? If some of their young pitchers can come through, sure, but Dodgers best shot was really 2 years ago.
