I love the trend of offensive fiber art. Judy Dench embroiders things like "You Are A Shit" with flowers and hearts and gives them as gifts to friends. Purple haired #resisters knit and crochet penises, vaginas, boobs, uteruses, and buttholes, among other things, and "pussy hat" is a thing. It's not all humorous, though. The internet is abound with needlepoint messages about rape or mental illness and tea towels embroidered with slurs and abusive terms toward women and minorities on them in the prettiest decorative old fashioned lettering you've ever seen. Every woman has a voice here, even "Myrna" from Twitter, who simply tweeted that her outburst in Joann's Fabrics is not reflective of who she is, and became an instant rock star across the fiber arts world. There's a big whimsical nerd element to the offensive fiber arts world, too. Lots of science and scientists as well, and tons of politics.
I hope this trend continues for a ridiculously long time. If not, the sentiment will come back around in a few generations and grannies crocheting dicks will be hilarious and necessary yet again, and again it will help to inspire the young girls to weave tapestries depicting all the sex positions listed in urban dictionary or whatever the 2050s equivalent of urban dictionary and hats and scarves for all the houses of Hogwarts or whatever the equivalent of houses of Hogwarts in the future, etc. Hopefully they won't be also stitching up painful messages of abuse and isolation, but hopefully still giving the finger to the status quo regardless.
