Spreads for Toast


I will never forget the tenor, though I have forgotten the actual content, of capsaicin67's reaction to Vegemite on this forum. I have hesitated to mention Vegemite here since, being slightly traumatised.

OP, somewhat echoing sohy, thin slices of cheddar plus apricot jam.
(Risking it :)) Cheddar melted over a thin scrape of Vegemite.
Pesto, bought or homemade, nuked for 30 seconds.
Curry sauce, ditto.
Mayonnaise with halved olives.
Leftover bol. sauce.
Leftover mashed potato with tom. sce, nuked.
Leftover parsnip, with garlic, ditto.
Homemade tom. sce., by itself.
 
Peanut butter spread on toast, dipped in Wheat germ.
Alt: Nutella & Wheat Germ.

The wheat germ is mostly a texture thing, so PB or Nutella isn't so sticky in the mouth.
 
I ended up making Hummus and Olive Tapenade a few times and loved them both, but it's a bit of a process to do regularly. I need to remember to look for store bought Hummus next time I'm grocery shopping, but as for now I'm back to Cheese Whiz.

On another note, I had Sesame seeds on hand when making the Hummus so made my own Tahini too. Partner really enjoyed when I over-roasted them, the Hummus had a nice, strong flavour.
