The Illusion of Self

You are the one that claims energy goes right through the eye and we experience it.

You don't come across as educated on these matters.

There goes another irony meter. ;)

Nobody knows the first thing about how consciousness arises.

But it is silliness to think energy travels through your eye and you experience the energy.

How is not the same as where. We know that an active brain is essential. That being the where.

Blood flow is not directly related to consciousness, brain activity is. Try again.

Show me a consciousness without blood flow.

Errm....you know there is a distinction between functions and their support systems? Your remark suggests that you don't.

That is a total dodge.

If you change blood flow you change consciousness.

Just like adding electricity from an external source can change consciousness.

Blood flow is essential for consciousness.

You can't have consciousness without it.

You made a dodge when you invoked blood. Your defense of something you can't seem to define or support, some magical element responsible for consciousness, is laughable.

Just answer one question as clearly and concisely as you can: do you believe the brain to be responsible for mind/consciousness?

How do you know blood flow is not the activity that gives rise to consciousness?

Have you ever seen consciousness without blood flow?

You have nothing to say in other words.

You claim it is some activity in the brain that gives rise to consciousness.

Electrical activity as far as we know does not have giving rise to consciousness as a property.

So a claim that electrical activity gives rise to consciousness is as proven as saying blood flow gives rise to consciousness.

Blood contains iron. The movement of blood through an active brain might be what gives rise to consciousness.

You can't show me a consciousness without blood flow.

You don't understand the phenomena of consciousness at all. Not in any way.

Your objection is too silly. We know that brain activity is related to consciousness. We understand the function of blood well enough.

You are scraping the bottom of your little barrel of denial.

Consciousness is a conserved resource in the universe.
It doesn't just go away any more (or less) than matter just goes away.
When you die it reverts to the universal reserve "pool" until it is parceled out again.

You can't show me consciousness going away, right?

Your objection is too silly.

You have no idea if this is silly.

We know that brain activity is related to consciousness.

So is blood flow.

We understand the function of blood well enough.

A thing can have more than one function.

You are scraping the bottom of your little barrel of denial.

I am not denying anything except that humans have the slightest clue how consciousness arises or what specific activity gives rise to it.

So it could be INFINITY, then.

Nah. Consciousness is finite. And conserved. Cannot be created nor destroyed.
Show me consciousness being created or destroyed, or else you're wrong.

{{{walks away satisfied}}}

I know it's silly based on the current understanding of biological functions and the role that blood plays in maintaining life, the role the brain plays in relation to behaviour and consciousness, etc. You are hand waving.
