    Elizabeth II has died

I listened to a radio phone in show earlier in the week regarding that chap who was cautioned by police for holding up a blank sign. This lovely chap called in to defend the concept of arresting republicans or anti-royalists: I don't know how he has the patience to speak to such morons, but I...

UK No-Confidence Vote Fails, but Johnson get's ~4/7 of vote.

And one from the amazing James O'Brien, though recorded a few hours prior to his 'leaving' speech.

Roe v Wade is on deck

The terms pro-choice and pro-life aren't ideal. An alternative for the pro-life point of view is relatively straight forward - pro-birth, or pro forced-birth if I was feeling ungenerous. An alternative for pro-choice isn't as easy - pro-abortion doesn't really do it, and something like anti...

Roe v Wade is on deck

I am also on another board, which is mostly comprised of very right wing Christian conservatives. As you can imagine, they're jumping for joy at the prospect of this court ruling, using florid language such as 'the horror of abortion' etc. However, I've been a member there (and here, actually)...

    Tokyo Olympics 2021

Very likely. I don't wish to derail an otherwise largely positive thread with bigots though, even if I'm the one who caused it!

    Tokyo Olympics 2021

I haven't seen much of the Olympics this year, unfortunately. I have fond memories of the London Olympics in 2012, which was the last time I remember being proud of my country, regardless of the relatively strong outing of 'Team GB' that year. I keep on seeing the usual bigoted suspects and...

Prince Philip has died aged 99, Buckingham Palace announces

Quite. I'm not going to argue with you, as your thoughts largely mirror my own. However, regardless of how ridiculous I find it as a concept- by virtue of being at the top of our antiquated social hierarchy, Prince Philip dying is newsworthy, despite the fact that I don't believe this should...

Prince Philip has died aged 99, Buckingham Palace announces

Yes, I'm a (minor) part of Operation Forth Bridge and we've had all the letters/tweets of mourning written up for several years.

Prince Philip has died aged 99, Buckingham Palace announces

Fortunately, the vaccine roll out has been one of the few things my government hasn't been murderously incompetent at. On the subject though: Link

Prince Philip has died aged 99, Buckingham Palace announces

Guardian's obituary is dated 21 Feb by mistake. So evidently they thought the last health issue he had was it. Oops

Prince Philip has died aged 99, Buckingham Palace announces

Link He died this morning. Unlike when the Queen dies, there is unlikely to be huge ceremony on the lead up to his funeral 10 days from now (though the funeral itself will be ceremonious). How it will all happen in Covid is an interesting question, however.

    Impeachment II thread

Reading through the usual right-wing forums I'm seeing them excusing Trump because he did not actually say the words 'go storm the capitol building'. Therefore he cannot have incited violence or insurrection and it all just the usual TDS and extreme left-wing socialist MSN blowing the whole...
