I recall that some Texas secessionists are similar, wanting Federal disaster assistance.

Severing complex financial ties is non-trivial. Ask the UK. I'd love to see these morons no longer able to vote for President or Congress, but will they pay their share of the national debt? If not, what's to be done? Roadblocks on all the roads in and out of Racistopia confiscating goods and vehicles until their share is paid?

The racists will use fake addresses to keep getting government checks. Will we need a rule that anyone who once had a Racistopia address needs to pick up their check in person each week?

And aren't there a lot of ICBMs siloed in would-be Racistopia? That should be a concern: These morons are led by psychopaths. "Right to bear arms" and "Stand your ground" indeed!

Doesn't surprise me too much, knowing the Orovillites that I know! They don't like the government much at all, and in fairness, the national government has not done particularly well by them. It's quite poor, the city came into being following an appalling act of genocide, and a lot of its population are immigrants from various places come to seek an "American Dream" that never quite materialized for them. More recently, many are refugees from the destruction of Paradise, CA in a catastrophic wildfire event not far from their doorstep. Of course, in this case the issue is mostly vaccination-related, and the mayor has even admitted that (a) that's why they did this, and (b) they don't really expect anything to change. But then, the antivax movement itself does not occur in a political vaccuum.

I think libertarians generally see any money from the government as a small portion back from what they are truly owed, believing that without excessive taxation they would have been able to meet those needs themselves. It's not the most realistic point of view, but it is not hypocritical in intention so much as ignorant in application.

There's no need for right wingers to secede! All that they have to do is convince a majority that the current inflation is due to democrats spending bills (which haven't even taken effect yet!); continue baiting dems to attack each other rather than attack republicans; take the house and senate in 2022; continue blaming Biden; Benghazi dems as much as you can; maybe swift boat them also; get Trump reelected in 2024; put trump loyalists into key oversight areas in the election; suspend the EC; and you've got your right wing country for all time! Wahoo.

So, your roads, schools, cops, fire department, and clinics will get no assistance, you get no vote on how your taxes are spent, and you still have to pay taxes on government money you receive.
I imangine someone in their life would be happy to drop dime on them for tax dodges just like there were for Jan6th-ers...

Ward Colorado did that for a few weeks back in the 70s.
I remember being shaken down by heavily armed “guards” stopping everyone on the road in, asking why they wanted to be in their “ Republic”.
“Dude, i live down the road and this is my only access to the peak-to-peak highway!”

I forget how the situation resolved, but I think that the people leading the revolt got bored, and maybe hungry… not a lot of crops grown at 9500 feet…
The self sufficiency dream lasted what seemed like minutes.

Was watching a talk show years ago where this ignoramus stood up and said he wanted the government to pay for something and not the people. The host quickly reminded him how dumb he was - tactfully of course.

I don't think they have the big booms--silos are deliberately positioned in north central parts of the country--specifically, far from oceans. Far from boomers hiding in the oceans that might try a depressed trajectory surprise attack.
