Prince Philip has died aged 99, Buckingham Palace announces

Link He died this morning. Unlike when the Queen dies, there is unlikely to be huge ceremony on the lead up to his funeral 10 days from now (though the funeral itself will be ceremonious). How it will all happen in Covid is an interesting question, however.

So, the UK has officially shot itself in the foot...

... and now will spend the next few years cutting off more toes. What a pointless exercise. As there's no other threads on this, and as today the first day the UK has officially left the EU (dragging Scotland out against its wishes and putting a border in the Irish Sea, not to mention the...

    Trump Pardons Predictions

So, it appears Trump is going to pardon Michael Flynn before he pops off in January: Source Not surprising, though I believe Flynn being pardoned does possibly have repercussions for any potential court cases in future. Anyone else we believe will be on the list of those he pardons?

    Nike is Anti-American

Well, I haven't heard about Nike and Colin Kaepernick for a while- cue right wing aneurysms: source I'm tired of these America haters. The reason they caved is that they really have no love for their country.

https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2018/jul/23/liberals-donald-trump-support This pretty much sums up my experience of evangelical right wingers on forums I come across- so long as he provides the SCOTUS nominations and packs courts with ill-equiped right wing judges they can forgive...

    Mass Shooting In Australia

https://mobile.nytimes.com/2018/05/11/world/australia/worst-mass-shooting-margaret-river.html Awful. Already the gun nuts are jumping for joy at the 'proof' that gun control doesn't work- ignoring the relative rarity of such an event, which somewhat defeats their point from the get go.

London has overtaken New York in homicides for 2018

https://www.google.co.uk/amp/s/www.cbsnews.com/amp/news/london-murder-rate-higher-new-york-city-first-time-surging-knife-gun-crime/ Well, this is interesting, especially given the heightened debate in the US regarding gun control reducing deaths & injuries- as has been pointed out to me several...

Are Mass Shootings Increasing in Frequency

Ok, naturally I’m not American, so the whole concept of this issue is slightly beyond me. However I was wondering if the above statement & following question was correct? Did it used to be easier to purchase a gun in the 50s & 60s? If so why have the number of shootings gone up do we think if...
