According to a recent poll, 0% of respondents under the age of 25 in Iceland said that they believe the universe was created by God. And their country is now* being literally TORN IN HALF by volcanoes and earthquakes.

Is that a risk we can afford to take??

*Geological process has been ongoing for 16-18 million years, and may not be explicitly caused by lack of faith.

What was the margin of error in this study? If it turns out that it's actually -5% of them who don't believe this, that's the kind of reality warping logical inconsistency which only a universe-creating deity can bring about.

Well, faith appears to do nothing to prevent ecological "disasters", but does often make them worse by fueling destructive arrogance and discouraging acceptance of the science showing the dangers of that destruction. So I'd say we can't afford not to reject faith in God.

No, it's just the 29 year old women lying about being 24.

What really astonished me was this sentence in the article: " The strongest support for the big bang theory lies with those who would vote for the Pirate Party..."

They have a Pirate Party!!!

Less surprising, perhaps, is that those who vote for a Pirate Party don't much believe in God! :D

The pirate party is about copyright. Not wooden legs and parrots.

That's disappointing. If I was eligible, they would lose my vote on that basis.

You can oppose copyright and still have a wooden leg, a parrot, and a penchant for saying "Arrr".

Yet another illusion crushed. But I guess that's one of the main functions of a sceptical forum. :(

Ya, that blows. Iceland was settled by Vikings. They'd make for good pirates and it would make the Atlantic Ocean more interesting instead of just being the Pacific's redheaded stepchild.

Yes, but the Pirate Party takes positions on copyright law that are in conflict with the wishes of many large corporations, which proves that the Pirate Party is evil and thus minions of Satan. Thus, we have proved that the loss of religion causes populations to become evil, and therefore we have proved that Baptist Christianity is true. QEDuh. [/christian]

How many of them believe the world was created by Odin from the remains of the giant Ymir?
