There are some topics that I find interesting around parenting that I would engage in. What do people think about having a subforum for that, or does it more properly belong in Misc?

I know many here are not parents, and would perhaps be happy to have that bucketed like media or crafts or travel or religion.

Thoughts? discussion?

Honestly, for as much activity as the food and crafting forums have gotten, I think we'd be better off just eliminating these extra forums and putting the activity back in the lounge and misc. At least that way we'd have one or two places where all of the busy threads were, rather than many semi-dead forums that people had to check individually.

The other forums existing might precipitate slightly more threads, but they also likely decrease overall activity.

Not a bad idea, but I kind of agree with rousseau. Anyone not interested in a particular thread can just ignore it. I would certainly be willing to chime in with my thoughts on threads about parenting, though. I might even ask some questions myself. I'm about a month away from having a second teenager in the house (younger son). Then in a couple more years my twin girls will be teens, too! I keep saying I'm a little nervous about having (two!) teenage girls in the house, though I've also heard that the issues are more likely to be between them and their mother. We'll see.

Sounds good. Maybe an ongoing mega-thread like the "what are you thinking" can keep it contained. I think along those lines because guaranteed a topic will come up that I won't need until a year later, or ten.

Or, just ad-hoc as we do now.

Just starts threads on parenting with "Parent - ...." and if we start accumulating too many threads, then a sub forum would make sense.
