Serious question:
If the "good guy with a gun" narrative was an effective way of preventing mass shootings, then why does the US still have so many? If it were a deterrent, then every lunatic would show up at a school, see the stalwart citizen with a firearm, and say "you know what? Not today."
I mean, we've got a third of the population owning enough firearms for every man, woman, and child in the country. You can't swing a dead cat in America without hitting someone who is carrying a weapon, and they'd likely fill the kitty corpse with lead.
Yet here we are, with the second mass shooting in a week, and not only is there not a "good guy with a gun" in sight, but there's a "good guy with a gun" among the victims!
Clearly, the threat of an intrepid armed American potentially lurking around the corner is not enough to deter a lunatic from shooting up a grocery store, or beauty salon, or nightclub, or concert, or Wal Mart, or church, or school, or post office, or movie theater, or grocery store, or school, or a school, or a school. The number of patriotic gun-toting Americans that have stopped one of these massacres in progress?
