More than 100,000 child porn videos and photos have been found on the computer of former Archbishop Jozef Wesolowski, who is also accused of raping numerous children in the Dominican Republic and Poland.
Wesolowski, currently under house arrest at the Vatican, is one of the highest-ranking church officials to be accused of sexually abusing children during the Catholic Church’s widespread and costly sexual abuse scandal.
The videos and photos of child pornography were stored on a computer in the office at the Holy See diplomatic compound in the Dominican Republic, where Wesolowski served as papal nuncio in Santo Domingo.
After being publicly accused of procuring child prostitutes last year, Wesolowski was secretly removed from his post as papal nuncio in Santo Domingo by Vatican officials hoping to avoid an embarrassing public prosecution.
Authorities in the Dominican Republic have been calling for Wesolowski’s extradition: a court there has opened a case against the former Vatican ambassador, and the attorney general wants to criminally charge Wesolowski.
Officials in Poland, Wesolowski’s country of origin, and where he has also been accused of sexually abusing children, are also calling for his extradition.

ETA:*** UPDATE *** Wesolowski died on August 27, 2015, while living in the Vatican under house arrest. He was never prosecuted for his crimes.
 
Well, at least he died while living in a luxurious palace surrounded by servants. It's nice to see people get karmic retribution for their crimes.

Kids today, spoiled by the internet.
back in my day, we had to pack the porn onto our sub by hand, with smut lockers containing collections stretching back YEARS of the ship's operations. Stuff from ports in countries that don't even exist anymore. If we'd had thumb drives back then, we'd have packed in the Library of Congress of Porn.

But, yeah, 100,000? Probably a lot of duplication. 500 files from Brother Matthew, 1430 files from Brother Mark, 666 files from Father Ignatius (who always smirked when he gave the number), 2000 files from Sister Immaculatta... And their files probably had donations from like-minded individuals mining the same sources, too.

Without a dedicated curator for the collection, some overlap inevitably crept in.
 
Once you have the first 10,000 kiddie porn pics, though, don't the rest get kind of redundant?
 
Didn't the Communist government in Poland bust a bunch of priests from time to time for molesting kids and everyone who was anyone in the west cried it was just persecution?

It’s deraogatory mocking against Catholic priests who raped children and the Church which enabled and protected them for so long.
 
Dead people are also not extradicted. Thus, he was simultaneously alive and suspected of the crimes he was never prosecuted for. So, once more, Lion, you pretend to make a point that's pretty pointless.

And, sad to say, the association of kiddy diddling, Catholic priests, and high-ranking Catholic authorities giving knowing sanctuary to protect kiddy-diddling-priests from prosecution has become prevalent enough that it no longer has any power as a shocking idea. People are disgusted and saddened, but no longer anything like surprised or aghast.
It is merely an acknowledged reality, however much we my wish it wasn't so.
Thus the mind is freed to mock, make light, and maybe even insult the idea, the event, and those around them.

Kind of like an online Xian apologist who is no longer shocked that atheists exist, and feels able to make light of the torments they will, in his sadistic world view, face for fucking eternity in the Hell he feels they deserve.
...if you can imagine someone doing that.
 
The important thing to recognize here is that if this pervert hadn't been hiding behind religious privilege he was more likely to be caught and punished. Religion was his cover, bathing himself in piety for his followers.

It's also important to remember that according to christian teaching he is likely in heaven because Jesus died and made up for all his sins. So religion is the ultimate enabler of this behavior because no matter how heinous it is rewarded in heaven.

The problem is not that prists and protestant leaders can be not much differnt than anybody else. It is the attempt to maintain the image of moral authority, especially by the pope and RCC.

If you are old enough to remember there have been many scnles involving leading Evangelical figured over the last 40 years or so.

Homophobes revealed to be gay, financial scandals, sexscsndals .The Vatican bank has had several scandals one involving collusion with organized crime.
