A rare baby dolphin has died on the beach after selfish tourists pulled it from the ocean so they could take selfies with it.

Shocking footage from Santa Teresita beach in Buenos Aires, Argentina, shows the body of the marine mammal lying motionless on the floor as dozens of people surround it.

The Franciscana dolphin had been passed around between sun worshippers while they took out their phones and posed for pictures.

Not surprising that people would do that, but somewhat surprised that not one person there had the knowledge and decency to object and point out they were killing it.

I'm skeptical of the "correction". Those hoards look awful happy and enthralled to be crowding for the chance to touch an already dead baby dolphin.

Especially, if it was just one of several dead dolphins on that beach

I agree Ron. And if this photo was taken while they were trying to *save* the dolphin, the situation we are looking at in the photo was the very very worst possible way to do it. I don't believe the "correction" either.

(I'm not talking out of my ass here, btw. I used to be a staff volunteer for a marine mammal rescue organization)

That raises another issue, is Snopes unreliable ?

According to Snopes, none of the rumors about its inaccuracy have panned out.

That's not really a thing that'd be easy to report on after the fact, would it?
