Civilized people, let some steam off with this video

The small perpetrators of racism go to prison.

The large one's run the government.

'Civilized' and 'Uncivilized' are terms used to justify aggressive hegemonic imperialism against and the exploitation/subjugation of weaker and/or helpless peoples who can't defend themselves and your continued propagation of these terms here is not appreciated. Reported to the internet for hatespeech!

That hefty jail sentence ought to send a message to the assholes out there.

I thought people going around with guns was a good thing. At least that was the claim in the "Black Guns Matter" thread ...

Would you explain how an "incident in which a group they were part of waved Confederate flags, shouted racial slurs and made armed threats at adults and children attending a child's party outside Atlanta" is akin to simply running around with guns?

Jebus! Are our courts that backed up that it took this long to get a result in that case?!

And 20 to 15 years in prison?! Would 6 months and maybe several years of community service be a better option? What they did was very wrong, but rapists get shorter terms!

For Derec, if they are black... yes. Hell, doesn't even have to be a real gun.

Then you have serious reading issues.
The whole pointof the BGM thread is that the gun nuts protesting the assault weapon court decision would find it a BAD thing for black activists to be heavily armed....

But nice derail, Derec.

The comparison was #BLM, so racial slurs and threats are definitely there.

Yeah, these people are assholes and probably racist (although the penalty seem overly harsh), but my point was the glaring double standard evident in comparison to the other thread.

Nonsense. But for some here, as long as they are black, everything is ok. That was my point. Double standards evident in the other thread that called for arming of #BLM protesters, which have not exactly been peaceful even in the absence of firearms.
Hell, doesn't even have to be a real gun.
Realistic looking guns. Like this guy, Quanice Hayes.
Activists rally, march in memory of Quanice Hayes, teen killed by police
If it's realistic enough to rob somebody with it, it's realistic enough.

You have to show that "running around with guns" is remotely akin to "shouting racial slurs and making armed threats". You are cherry-picking events to somehow make a complete argument. It is analogous to you claiming the previous sentences show I am a member of the KKK because there are 3 ks in them.

That may have been your intended point. Given that there is no double standard, since the other OP was endorsing people running around with guns, your attempt to demonstrate a double standard failed. However, you did get to ride one of your noxious and boring hobby horses.

I'm not going to complain about a bunch of racist terrorists getting multi-decade sentences for threatening to commit mass murder at a kid's birthday party, among other things they accomplished in their 2-day run. Must have been a surprise to them that white folks could be charged under Georgia's "Street Gang Terrorism and Prevention Act".

But, but, but that for the colored people, not that we are racist.

The punishment does seem excessive. In fact, I wonder if it's unconstitutional. We can each hold our opinions on the length of the prison sentence, but the punishment extends beyond that. Barred from the county?

Barred from the county is your concern? I was wondering about the length of the prison terms.
