Louisiana officer accused of murdering 6-year-old in car says he fired in self-defense

>Cops pull dad over.
>Dad puts hands up.
>Kid starts having autistic melt down (probably due to over stimulation from the siren and light and screaming thugs).
>Cops shoot 18 rounds into the car, multiple into kids face.
>Claim self defense

The state has influenced you into believing the police problem is solely a race issue. It is not. It isn't even really a police issue. They are drones that lack critical thinking, and often moral compasses - because the law tells them how to feel and what to do. That doesn't excuse them - but they aren't the originator of the problem. The blame lies with politicians, legislators, and judges like the one involved in this case who issued a media gag order. The blame rests solely on the shoulders of the state.

Not true. It isn’t just a race issue, but there is a substantial race issue.

Honestly, the blame here, Mr. Anarchist, lies in the people that gave this guy a gun

Agreed.

Well, that would be the state.

Of course the PD bears substantial responsibility —but we dare not allow the individual police officers to dodge their responsibility. That officer made a choice to fire into the face of a young child—and then to claim self defense.

“Solely with the state” implies there is nothing a cop can do to be good.
I think that’s a dangerous abdication of resposnisbility.

I read about good cops. They appear in news stories saying "I was fired because I reported my fellow officer." Those are the ones with happy endings, the ones with sad endings have them not living long enough to become ex-cops.

This happened in 2015. The cops were found guilty, one of manslaughter and one of negligent homicide. But you didn't hear about it in the media. Nobody took to the streets crying "Child's Lives Matter."

Did they need to?

Is there a huge swath of American society that belittles and dismisses the lives of children, that celebrates their deaths and blames them when they're killed by cops and vigilantes with histories of violence?

Are outlines in the shape of children being made for target practice, and their use by police officers being dismissed as a joke?

Are there advertisements for handguns that depict mannequins, clearly modeled on children, being shot in the head, presumably to appeal to potential buyers?

I'm not quite sure how to interpret this post. I mean, that's part of the point of BLM, right? The cops were charged and found guilty without needing people to take to the streets in protest.

FAKE NEWS

The criminal court charges, trial, and sentencing had HUNDREDS of references in news media between 2015 and 2017. The police were found to be guilty in April 2017.

The alleged "media gag order" was actually about the civil suit that came later, especially in reference to the terms of the settlement in 2018.

I got it. We could defund the police! We could change to a system where when you call for help, the person who comes to help is nearby and trained in handling the problems you said you have and doesn't have a gun with which to shoot you!

I wouldn’t argue otherwise.

He can claim he's Peter Pan and he can fly, but since the fact he shot the boy is not in dispute, it's his burden to prove self defense. The problem in the past has been that policemen have been given great allowances when they put themselves in a situation which appears dangerous, and then act as if it actually is.

When you consider the fact that black people commit a disproportionate share of crimes, police shootings and the like do not disproportionally affect black people.
This whole nonsense pushed by #BLM is just racist propaganda.

The economic condition and geography of African Americans are race issues. You've been told this before, but are unwilling to learn American history.

Here is a video of police apprehending Dylann Roof. Keep in mind, they know his guilt. An officer has a gun drawn for a few seconds and then it is more like a BBQ.

For some reason, you ignore the substantial difference between private action and state sanctioned action in your responses. The police represent the state (i.e. us), while private criminals do not. Moreoever, it appears that there is a tacit premise behind your response that criminals merit extra-judicial punishment (i.e shootings or executions without a fair trail), a premise that runs counter to the very principles of the US constitution.

Black people commit crimes. Therefore, we should ignore crimes committed by police officers. Terrible argument.

Also, police are state employees, paid using our tax dollars, and they are hired to serve us, the community. Are you really holding the police to the same standard of behavior as any criminal on the street who is not working for the state?

Sane person: "Black people are arrested disproportionately"

Racist: "But they commit more crimes!"

Sane person: "How do you know?"

Racism: "Because they get arrested more than whites do."

Yawn.
