Derec's Palestinian derail

so it's political not religious.

Both. She does reference allah in some of her tweets.

You claimed that she is Palestinian
But she is Palestinian. And that identity is the one that is relevant to her antisemitic tweets.

She even lists two cities in her profile: Nablus (West Bank) and New York.

I know, I know. "Whore, where is your hijab", but many extremists are hypocrites to the core...

Whatever else she may or may not be, she is a Palestinian...
when in fact she is as American as you are.
Her also being American (at least de jure) is not relevant to her tweets, which is why I did not mention it.

She’s as American as you are. Despite your convenient edit of my post. In fact, you have a LOT in common.

so it's political not religious.

In the devout Muslim world, religion is what dictates politics. Sharia law is Quranic law enacted and enforced by the state. The political disputes between Islamic countries is in large part a religious dispute between Islamic sects.

Someone can be both American and Palestinian. My best friend is every bit as American as I am but is also a Mexican at heart and by heritage. In this lady's tweets, she certainly seems to self-identify as a Palestinian.

Again, her being American is not relevant to her tweets. Her being Palestinian is. And she is a Palestinian, no matter what else she is. Are you incapable grasping the fact that people can have different identities in different contexts?
And I have virtually nothing in common with that bitch, other than species and color of our passports.

It's nothing but a bad joke. But joking like that will get you thrown out of residency programs.

I don't really think that it was a 'bad joke.' And yes, suggesting that you would intentionally give the wrong medication to any patient is exactly something that would and should get you kicked out of any residency program--and your medical license pulled, no matter who that patient might be.

Seriously, what is wrong with people???

There's no need to pull her license, she lost it automatically. Her license was conditional on being in a residency program, she's not, no license. Since nobody will hire her for liability reasons and she can't go into independent practice she's just done a career-ending move.

I can understand why a Palestinian would hate the nation of Israel.

But hating individual Jews living in the US is not justifiable.

Because the reality is that hating Israel is just a politically acceptable smokescreen for hating Jews.

Please: she’s no more Palestinian than I am French. Or than you are...Russian? Slovakian? Sorry: I don’t remember where your parents were born. No offense.

You are both irrationally bigoted. Just different sides of the coin.

It is irrational to hate all Jews because a few have oppressed and stolen from millions of Palestinians for decades.

But sick oppression makes the world bad in so many ways.

It was either a bad joke or a threat.

I do not think it was a real threat.

Why not?

Can you point to anything remotely humorous about any of her tweets?

https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.ya...hreatening-anti-semitic-tweets-183416657.html

If you say something in jest it is a joke.

She obviously has been effected by decades of oppression and abuse of the Palestinians.

I blame the sick oppressor.

This is what oppression does.

Again, there is zero evidence that she was writing in jest. You would have a better case If you were to claim that she was posturing to gain acceptance by nationalists.

She’s an American and is no more oppressed than I am.

You can't have evidence for a negative.

Where is the evidence it was a real threat?

She has been effected by the massive oppression the Palestinians have suffered.

Why is all this oppression and suffering completely invisible to some Americans?

I’m pretty sure your friend holds only an American passport. When it comes down to it, your friend is an American just as I am, no matter how proud I am of my heritage.

Palestinian people are oppressed by their own leadership that has refused to make peace for decades.

But sick oppression makes the world bad in so many ways.
Again, you must mean the likes of Hamas.

You are making a claim that her writing was in jest. Supporting this claim is not looking for evidence to support a negative. Cleveland Clinic apparently didn’t think it was a joke, nor have the schools she attended. They’re all pretty certain she made threatening comments. I’m sure that in the event of legal charges, the courts would also fail to see any humor and indeed would take such comments seriously and as evidence of intent and premeditation. I’m pretty sure Cleveland Clinic’s legal team agrees with me.

If you have a case, other than your stated sympathy with the sentiments she has expressed , please present it.

But we were not talking about what passports this Lara person holds. We are talking about her tweets, which are influenced by her Palestinian Muslim identity, not her American passport.

Let me give you another example. If say Seamus O'Connor of Cleveland, Ohio gives money to IRA isn't it relevant to point out that he is Irish and that that's why he supports Irish terrorists, even if he was born in US and only holds US citizenship?

Yes. I am saying it is a total joke and no real threat existed.

Where is the evidence I am wrong?

A residency has moral clauses and this crossed those lines. They had to get rid of her to protect themselves.

Palestinian people are oppressed by their own leadership that has refused to make peace for decades.

They are not a nation with leaders.

They are an oppressed fractured people ruled by the strongest gang.

They do not even have the right of self defense.

First oppressed by the Israelis and then doubly oppressed by the gang that is allowed to have power because they are under oppression.

You see double oppression as a problem with the victim.

You could not be more immoral.

But sick oppression makes the world bad in so many ways.

Again, you must mean the likes of Hamas.

Yes.

Israeli oppression is what has led to Hamas.

Hamas did not arise in the absence of Israeli oppression.
