I watch about 5 minutes of it on my phone and then got a call. Social media is saying Carly Fiorina came out looking the best. Other than being the former CEO of HP what do we know about her?

She did just fine, but she was in the lightweights crowd. Put her in with Christie and Trump and she will look like a luke warm Scott Walker.

Kasich came off pretty damn well. The only problem is that he may be too reasonable to be considered acceptable to the current nut jobs who make up such a large portion of the GOP.

Trump looked like himself; a crass, bullshitting, unapologetic circus master whose time in this thing is likely short.

Walker is a lightweight, but frightening as hell. He wants to put nuclear missiles back in Europe and post American troops along the Polish border with Ukraine.

Rand Paul, although an intelligent guy, is too milquetoast for the job. He was easily flustered. If I was his campaign manager I'd call it a disaster and close up shop.

Mike Huckabee is the Christian Taliban. Nothing new there. The idea of that motherfucker with his finger on the button is the stuff of a Stephen King novel.

Rubio came off pretty well. He could be a solid future candidate but it's not his turn yet.

Derp (Jeb Bush) was boring as hell. But he is good at not answering the questions asked and then going on to brag about how awesome of a job he did in Florida.

Chris Christie may have regained some credibility despite the fact that he committed the near mortal sin of hugging Obama. Other candidates actually said that--Rand Paul included.

Ben Carson is a weak speaker. He was nervous and didn't do a good job of answering anything.

As for issues, there was military. All loved it, all would increase it; all would be more aggressive with it than Obama. Surprise, surprise.

Economic issues: smaller government, less taxes, cut programs.

Healthcare: Something other than what Obama has done/repeal Obama care

Foreign Policy: We need to kick the shit out of people instead of negotiate/we got a bad deal in Iran

And God: Lots and lots of God. But halfway through Ted Cruz' speech about the Bible I couldn't take anymore, so I turned it off, and deleted the program.

Basically, it was a semi-entertaining festival of predictability.

Kasich was the big winner though. He's a true moderate and someone who could actually compete against anyone the Democrats come up with. That means he will not be the GOP nominee.

You forgot Ted Cruz, who out-Christian-talibaned Huckabee on every point. That guy is, in my opinion, even scarier than Huckabee, if only because he polls better than Huckabee.

And what the hell was up with the way Megyn Kelly asked some of her questions?

If you believe that life begins at conception, which you do, how do you justify ending a life just because it begins violently through no fault of the baby?” Kelly asked Rubio during the debate.

Yeah, it's a circus. It's dog eat dog for this first round. I only watched a little for the entertainment value.

If Trumps numbers keep up, he's the gods' gift to the Democrats.

He's shown no party loyalty, so if the GOP doesn't nominate him, he's threatened to run as an independent and thus split the Republican vote.

It's a win-win for the Democrats.

Agreed. Cruz is a Christian psycho! He's also very anti business (against SBA and export and import bank). The republican establishment hates him. I think that he'll fade.....

Yes. Dems should support Trump for now. He greatly helps us!

What's the over/under on who will be the first (and when 0f the "top 17") to drop out of the race?

(just asking)

Maybe they can do like English football, if someone in the top division poll numbers drop below the poll numbers of the top in the lower division, the top in the lower division would be promoted and the lower person in 1st division would be relegated to the lower division...

I was saying to my son on the phone last night - if Trump wins your election, and Boris Johnson wins our next one I'll really know humanity has gone stark staring mad. 'Idiocracy' here we come?

The similarity is uncanny - like two peas in a pod, and in more ways than one! Those whom the gods wish to destroy they first make mad.

Sad to see a major political party that has contributed real leaders in the past offering up candidates like this.

Hillary won't be sad though.

This was predicted after they sold out to the "tea party" which was formed and funded by corporate-libertarian interests. They are now in an echo chamber and do not realize how out of touch and plain crazy they look to the electorate. The high ratings for the debate were not so much for interest in selecting the candidates, but for the freakshow we knew Trump would provide.
