That is what Rick Perry seems to be implying. He was Texas Governor and US Secretary of Energy
Like a lot of evangelical Christians, Energy Secretary Rick Perry believes in a God who gets involved in every aspect of our lives -- including the election of Donald Trump as President.

"I'm a big believer that the God of our universe is still very active in the details of the day-to-day lives of government," Perry told Fox News in remarks aired on Sunday.
"You know, Barack Obama doesn't get to be the President of the United Sates without being ordained by God. Neither did Donald Trump."

...
In February, former White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders said that God "wanted Donald Trump to become president and that's why he's there." A month later, Secretary of State Mike Pompeo joined the chorus, saying it's possible God raised Donald Trump to be President in order to protect Israel from Iran.

Does God really want Donald Trump to be President? - CNN
"I think God calls all of us to fill different roles at different times," said Sanders, an evangelical Christian herself. "And I think he wanted Donald Trump to become president and that's why he's there."

While Sanders' statement may have raised secular Americans' eyebrows, many white evangelicals likely agree with her. According to a 2017 survey by Public Religion Research Institute, more than half (57%) say God played a "major role" in the 2016 presidential election.

That view is particularly pronounced among charismatic and Pentecostal Christians, a subset of evangelicalism that puts special emphasis on prophecies, believing that God is omnipotent, immanent and extremely active. That is, all-powerful and present in all areas of existence.
"Major role"? That means election fixing. But that notion seems to be less common outside of evangelical Protestants.
Less than half of non-white Protestants (47%) and fewer than a quarter of white mainline Protestants (21%) and Catholics (22%) say God played a major role in the 2016 election, according to the PRRI survey.
That PRRI survey - unaffiliated people are even less, at 7%.

In the Bible, we find Romans 13:1-7
Let every person be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except by God’s appointment,[a] and the authorities that exist have been instituted by God. 2 So the person who resists such authority resists the ordinance of God, and those who resist will incur judgment 3 (for rulers cause no fear for good conduct but for bad). Do you desire not to fear authority? Do good and you will receive its commendation 4 because it is God’s servant for your well-being. But be afraid if you do wrong because government[c] does not bear the sword for nothing. It is God’s servant to administer punishment on the person who does wrong. 5 Therefore it is necessary to be in subjection, not only because of the wrath of the authorities[d] but also because of your conscience.[e] 6 For this reason you also pay taxes, for the authorities[f] are God’s servants devoted to governing.[g] 7 Pay everyone what is owed: taxes to whom taxes are due, revenue to whom revenue is due, respect to whom respect is due, honor to whom honor is due.

From the article:
"That's a hard passage," said Michael Rea, a professor of philosophy at the University of Notre Dame. "Romans 13 needs to be handled with care."
Let him agonize about it.

For my part, I've long found that odd. Paul was an inhabitant of the Roman Empire, and the Roman Empire's official state religion Paul considered false.

The Democrats should investigate God.

Oh, right - they already did, and the Barr Angel hath deemed him most pure.

I've found this curiosity: Library: Politics and Military Service with Should Christians Vote? Author David C. Pack makes these arguments:
  • We don't choose leaders, God does. Meaning that God fixes every election, and that one's votes don't count.
  • Our true community is Heaven, and not any earthly one.
  • One cannot serve God alongside any other master.
  • Earthly societies are full of all sorts of troubles.
  • Politics and elections cause strife.
  • Democracy is an awful political system.
  • Anyone who wants to be elected is power-hungry.
  • Nowhere in the Bible is anyone ever elected.

Only when a Republican wins. Democrats are sponsored by the Goddess.

Holy shit, dude. He doesn't monitor EVERY SINGLE internet conversation, so you don't need to suck up to him this badly.

Stop calling him God and refer to him as President Putin like everyone else does.

Sounds like standard Evangelical language to me.

"God raised you up to become the Assistant to the Vice-Chairman of the Party Planning Committee for the Nebbie Wilson Elementary School Parent Volunteers Association. That's why it is your duty to bring gluten-free cupcakes to the Flag Football Fund Raiser Bake Sale."

Romans 13 is crazy, and you have to be crazy like Perry to believe in it. It's the divine right of kings. And why didn't Perry get asked about God putting Obama and Clinton in for 8 years, and Roosevelt for 12?

With God, a thousand years is as a day and a day is as a thousand years. That means Clinton and Obama had been President for 2,920,000 years, from his point of view.

He probably got bored of them.

For my part, I've long found that odd. Paul was an inhabitant of the Roman Empire, and the Roman Empire's official state religion Paul considered false.
Makes perfect sense strategically though. Their messiah was given a rebel's death. Suspicion of being subversives must have clung to Christians like white on rice, and the Roman Empire was accustomed to crushing subversives like bugs. Anything Paul could do to persuade his followers to act in ways that would allay Rome's suspicions had to be good for the spread of his memes. I expect the decision to whitewash Pilate and put all the blame on the Jews was in the same vein.

I think He mostly let's us have what we want and get what we deserve - reap what we sow.
