This whole thing appears to be a political ploy on the part of the GOP. Voters are easily manipulated when plunged into a climate of fear no matter how irrational it may be.Especially when those politicians pause as protectors of the public.

How about quarantining the politicians that pass such unreasonable measures?

I have no problem with quarantine of those who are infectious. I wouldn't even have a problem with a quarantine based on a positive Ebola test even with no symptoms yet. I have a big problem with quarantine of those who were simply in the general vicinity of Ebola.

I saw that one. I revived this one to recall attention to all the needless panic and kneejerking you and others had to deal with. Pretty remarkable how silent it went so quickly, as there have been no new cases and things are unfolding pretty much as the experts predicted they would.

I hope the people who have been panicking over this even in the face of calm and reasoned explanations will do some serious reflection on this and remember it next time there is some threat that the media blows completely out of proportion by scaring the public shitless for the sake of ratings.

It is my hope too that they will. And they will remember the lesson of how a topic like Ebola can be manipulated by a number of right-wing talking heads to induce irrational fear. Considering the same audiences of those talking heads did NOT remember the lesson they should have learned from all the fear inducing mantras and diatribes at the eve of the US military intervention in Irak. Then how the media contributed to a climate of general fear based on a failed intel report. Intel report declared failed years after by the Congressional Inquiry Committee and one with a bi partisan participation and headed by a Democrat and GOP member. Who BOTH concluded it was a failed report, a conclusion escorted by " had we known what we know now, we would not have authorized the US military intervention in Irak". Despite of the recognition that it was the WRONG move, you still have a substantial portion of the US public who ,today, will allow themselves to be manipulated into irrational fear by the same politically motivated/ driven culprits.

"For the sake of ratings" remains the driving factor among US news networks. All sorts of sensationalism driven untruths. Forget authentic investigative journalism. Forget being a media who will strive to educate the public after they double check whichever sources they claim to be the origin of their claims.

Don't bet on it.

If not before, you can rely on much the same in the last couple of weeks of October 2016.

After all, it worked pretty well this time. Why wouldn't they do it again?
