Foreign policy experience - Obama vs. Trump

Getting through to Oz here is the claim that Trump does not have the foreign policy experience to be US president. That got me thinking as to what foreign policy experience did Obama before he became president?
I know that he was a state member and a senator before becoming president. How does that relate to foreign policy experience? I know that Obama spent some time in Indonesia (and Kenya?) whilst growing up.

This question is for my edification.

The problem is less about lack of experience and more about Trump's dangerous level of ignorance, objectively false beliefs, and incapacity to reason in relation to foreign policy (or any other area of governance) that makes him not merely unqualified, but anti-qualified.

I saw some describe Trump like this: Trump has a disco ball where his moral center should be. I thought that was pretty good.

He has a mirror.

But one that's slightly warped so he imagines his hair looks human.

I liked President Obama's joke that it was unfair to say Trump had no foreign policy experience - he had spent a long time with foreign leaders such as Miss Sweden, Miss Indonesia, etcetera etcetera.

Sadly that does seem to be the case.

Really? Which recent President didn't have all these problems?

Very few recent presidents have antagonised such a high proportion of the human races, surely, or shown themselves to be such self-obsessed turds?

How soon Republicans forget George HW Bush, who had a large amount of foreign policy experience prior to being president. Republican nominee Trump falls far, far short of the standard that Republicans themselves have set. And of course there was nominee John McCain, nominee Bob Dole, etc.

Conservatives hated HW Bush. Too qualified for the office.

Anyone remember that guy who became President around the turn of the millennium? He didn't really know much and his foreign policy was guided by the delusional Neo-Cons? How did that turn out?

Obama, Clinton, HW Bush, these weren't problems. Each used the military, but generally in a strategic and surgical way. HW Bush had a full blown military mobilization, yet knew when to put on the brakes. With each following Republican nominee, I appreciate HW Bush a little bit more.
