The network’s furthering of lies from foreign adversaries and flagrant disregard for the truth have gotten downright dangerous.

Monday’s split-screen drama, as the House Judiciary Committee weighed impeachment charges against President Trump and as the Justice Department’s inspector general released a 476-page report on the FBI’s handling of its 2016 investigation into Trump’s campaign, made one truth of the modern world inescapable: The lies and obfuscations forwarded ad infinitum on Fox News pose a dangerous threat to the national security of the United States.

The facts of both dramas were clear to objective viewers: In the one instance, there’s conclusive and surprisingly consistent evidence that President Trump pushed Ukraine to concoct dirt on a domestic political rival to affect the 2020 presidential election, and in the other, Justice Department Inspector General Michael Horowitz found that the FBI was proper to investigate Trump’s dealings with Russia in the 2016 presidential campaign.

But that set of facts is not what anyone who was watching Fox News heard. Instead, Fox spent the night describing an upside-down world where the president’s enemies had spun a web of lies about Trump and Ukraine, even as Horowitz blew open the base corruption that has driven every attack on the president since 2016.

And the White and Senate GOP are coordinating on the Senate Trial!

Not really. It contradicts itself. Fox News is a major cause of misinformation. So if misinformation is a causal threat, then Fox News is a causal threat. Fox News is the dog, it's tail the misinformation, and the fragile things in the china shop being broken by the tail are informed and reasoned action. The notion that all media is merely a reflection of society is proven false by the differences in media outlets, not to mention mountains of psychological research showing that people's thoughts and actions are causally altered by the information presented to them.

Much of what Fox says is deliberately false slander and libel, so unless you think all slander an libel should be legal, then you are a hypocrite. Plus, the OP is not
advocating for any legal or governmental punishments against Fox or denying their right to speak lies. The OP is merely pointing out the objective facts that Fox News lies and is causing harm to numerous people and to scientific literacy, and reason based discourse and action upon which all the benefits of democracy depend. Thus, they are a real and tangible threat to Western civilization, far moreso than any Islamic terrorist group, but not moreso than Trump and the GOP who are the one's who actions actually implement the harms that Fox News helps create public support for.

It has nothing to do with terminating journalism. RV, and I think you know it. Selling fabrications as "news" is false advertising and should not be allowed.
Whether that means pulling licenses, or maybe just throwing perps in jail, it should not be allowed. And ACTUAL journalism would not suffer from its prohibition.
