I remember seeing Red Eye (2005) recently with a couple non-fluent friends and it was a good choice because the story was fairly contained and not highly complex. Taken is a bit similar I think.

The Day of the Jackal (1973) would be a bad choice since even I had to pay close attention.

Anybody have recommendations for this?

Any of the 80s action movies with Arnold Schwarzenegger.

Pretty much anything with Michael Bay or most Bruckenheimer films. Armageddon is probably a bit better if you don't hear a single word.

Not fluent in English?
Based on my wife's experience in high school, any movie that's
popular with the 18-25 demographic would fit that criteria.

Pretty much any monster movie: Godzilla, King Kong, Honey Boo-boo....

Subtitles are your friend here. You will be surprised how much people can pick up when they are both hearing and reading the dialogue at the same time.

If it's still a problem, just look for any film with minimal plot exposition. Action movies are obviously the best, but there are tons of options in every genre. You just have to find out what kind of movies they want to see beforehand.

Any Hollywood movie that made serious bank overseas is a good bet. Action movies these days are designed to be easily translatable. Try guardians of the galaxy or Jupiter ascending or something like that.

The various Mission Impossible movies struck me as being popular but wouldn't be good for a non-fluent speaker.
