Wow…I read this NR article earlier today by Jim Geraghty, where the author was rather pissy with the Trumpolytes. Evidently Ann Coulter, the Newt, and Stephanie Cegielski (former communications director of the Make America Great Again Super PAC) have had an epiphany and now realize that Trump may just be toxic. He quoted a few of the aformentioned people, and then launched into a tirad.

Technically we’re supposed to welcome previous Trump fans-turned-foes with open arms. But barring some miraculous comeback by Ted Cruz, the Trump campaign will have cost the Republican Party the presidency after eight years of Obama, and perhaps the Senate and even the House – and Scalia’s replacement on the Court as well. Years of effort spent attempting to dispel the accusations of inherent Republican misogyny, xenophobia, hypocrisy, ignorance and blind rage have been undone by Trump’s campaign. And every Trump advocate in front of a camera had a hand in this.

We’re not just gonna hug it out.
Yeah, I can kind of see the various factions having a hard time coming back for hugs and kisses. This does not bode well for thee GOP convention nor for the Nov. election.

The posts in the comment section have been screaming along for a few hours, and they are seriously pissed…at each other. They have well over 3,000 posts in probably less than 24 hours. So many choices, so many tantrums….ok, here is one fun exchange by an atypical hatred tossed at the author:

"foolish idiots"? Thanks, that's quite an assessment from an RNC apparatchik who's done nothing in life but give his opinion. But don't worry, if Trump isn't the nominee I won't embarrass the Republicans by voting for them. Everyone else is more of the same, might as well be Hillary in the White House.

Please don't. As a republican, I am so thankful to not count on you voting republican. I'd rather lose the election with honor than count vile, ignorant, extremely uninformed, xenophobes like trumpites in our ranks.

You call yourself a conservative?

"vile, ignorant, extremely uninformed, xenophobes like trumpites"

You sound like another hysterical douchebag lib.

Xenophobes? Really?

"Years of effort spent attempting to dispel the accusations of inherent Republican misogyny, xenophobia, hypocrisy, ignorance and blind rage have been undone by Trump’s campaign"

... bwahahahahahahaha wait, wait, these stupid fucknuts actually think they were in any remote way succeeding at that before trump came along?

HA!

Hey, they even had gotten most of the neanderthals to no speak the word 'rape'.

Anywho, the Repugs have done fairly well at the state level. If they hadn't gotten so deep into the Trump circus or Carnival Cruz, they might have been able to ride someone like Kasich or Rubio all the way to the Whitehouse. Hillary is not well liked by many, and after 8 years of having Dum's occupying the Whitehouse, the fight could have been fairly even. Pres. Obama has quite the mess in the ME, whether or not one blames him for much of it. 2016 was ripe for Repug pickings...

OWN IT, CONSERVOTARDS. I admit I don't read the right's columnists with regularity, but I at least glance at G.F. Will and Michael Reagan, so I know that they disavow Trump and say he's no conservative at all. But I have yet to read a right-wing columnist who admits that Trump is a predictable creation of this movement. If they see that 30-40% of their electorate is loutish and unable to parse propaganda -- and seething with irrational anger -- well, it takes one seriously fucked-up party to bring all that to a boil.

The scary part is the Cruz does well in a general election with Clinton. Real Clear Politics aggregate polling shows Clinon ahead by only 2.8% Sanders does better, beating Cruz by 9.4%

You think they'll ever realize that Ann Coulter and Newt Gingrich are also toxic?

Well, Coulter's a real life troll, but Gingrich...

I'd add that other person, but I don't know who she is, and I honestly can't be bothered to Google her.

What is truly hilarious is that rightists genuinely believed that they had anyone fooled about their own "misogyny, xenophobia, hypocrisy, ignorance and blind rage " (notice the convenient omission of racism from the comment).

Are they really that ignorant about the extent of their own bigotry, or do they think the rest of us are stupid?
