How should west respond to potential (likely) Russian invasion of Ukraine?

You have been predicting collapse of Russian economy for 10 years.
And do you even realize what it tells to anyone with functioning brain?
It tells us that it was your plan. Attack Russia using Georgia, then Ukraine and have russian economy to collapse.
It was your plan. And I bet your piece of shit president could not even hide it from Putin. I bet he literally told Putin that if you don't do what we tell you to do we will attack you with economic sanctions.
Unfortunately for your degenerate government it did not work and they had to improvise with actual attacks. And even that did not work. You're screwed. You have very angry (I hope) Russia and Europe without any economic prospects,

An interesting analysis of the Russian economy.

There are clear signs that Russian economy is headed toward a collapse. Resources are being used to the maximum. This means they will be increasingly expensive for enterprises, and not everyone will be able to afford them. Prices are increasing, and the Russian Central Bank cannot stop them. Last week, according to Rosstat, inflation rose again: up to 0.37% (a week earlier, it was 0.30%). To slow down price growth, it is necessary either to stop economic growth and budget expenditures (infusions in the military-industrial complex, etc.) or put up with inflation rates above the target, the Russian Academy of Sciences said.

Only certain industries are growing in Russia, primarily machinery. In other words, what the budget pays huge amounts of money for and what goes to be destroyed in Ukraine is on the rise. This means that the money poured into industry does not bring anything to the economy except for the figures that are pleasant to the ear of the authorities. But even this growth has already been exhausted, as next year, GDP will increase by only 0.5-1%, and the growth rates of investments and private consumption may go to zero.

The International Monetary Fund predicts that the Russian economy will slow down threefold, from 3.9% growth this year to 1.3% next year. This is three and a half times less than in developed countries and 5-6 times less than in China or India.

A total of 4,363 legal Russian entities were declared bankrupt in the first six months of 2024, which is 40% more than in the same period a year earlier. And this is with the declared economic growth of 4%. What will happen at the economic growth of 0.5%, as predicted by the Central Bank? Mass bankruptcies and the economy of the early 90s - lots of tanks, nothing to eat?

In 2025, Russians will face a new series of losses and bankruptcies. The reason is not only sanctions restrictions but also growing problems inside Russia.

Rusal, one of the world's largest aluminum producers, announced the start of production optimization - it will be reduced by 250 thousand tons in the first stage. The company explained the decision of optimization by "record prices for raw materials and high risks of a continued negative macroeconomic environment."

Major Russian mining and metals company Mechel announced the suspension of one of its enterprises - Olzherasskaya-Novaya mine in Mezhdurechensk. The reason is problems with the sales market.

Major Russian corporation PJSC Gazprom made a record net loss of $6.1 billion in 2023, becoming Russia's most unprofitable company for the first time in 25 years.

ALROSA (Russian group of diamond mining companies) reduced its revenue under Russian Accounting Standards (RAS) by 30% and net profit by 3 times in 9 months. The net loss amounted to 6.5 billion rubles ($62,7 million).

Baltika brewing company is among the top ten most unprofitable companies in Russia in 2024. In 2022, the company's revenue was about 100 billion rubles ($965 million). In 2023, the net loss was 28.1 billion rubles ($271,1 million). The option of filling the budget by nationalizing profitable private enterprises has failed.

PJSC KAMAZ's net loss for the first nine months of 2024 amounted to 3.8 billion rubles ($36,6 million) against a profit of 15.8 billion rubles ($152,4 million) for the same period last year, according to financial statements published on the company's website.

AvtoVAZ automobile manufacturing company is talking about possible bankruptcy and debts of over 100 billion rubles ($965 million). This is due to the increase of the Russian key rate.

Rosneft CEO Igor Sechin is going to classify data on Russian oil exports and the production volumes of Russian refineries ostensibly to protect Russia's national interests from "unfriendly actions" by the USA and other Western countries. In reality, it is to hide the crisis in this field.

Sanctions were imposed on Gazprombank, the major bank, and fifty other banks. Sanctions were also imposed against the Russian System for Transfer of Financial Messages (SPFS, sort of Russian analog of the international SWIFT messaging system).

But don’t worry. Trump will fix it!

Anybody with a functioning brain understand that the problems of the Russian economy are self-caused, but of course it is always easier to blame malignant foreigners. The Russian economy suffers from rampart corruption -Russian trolls always point out how corrupt Ukraine was, but Russia was much more corrupt. The corruption and the lack of rule of law throw tons of grit in the machinery that was not that good shape to begin with.

Russia could have become a modern functioning economy, but they got stuck with a sad little KGB-man with no understanding of economics.

You are clueless.

And your country is dying. In droves. Your economy sucks. Your military is incompetent. Even Trump is better than Putin. You’re a fool. And you will fail. Russia has always been a piss poor backwards country and it always will be. You fancy yourself a world power but your economy is smaller than California’s, and you can’t even take care of Ukraine after three years of warfare. Useless.

Utter BS but I am glad you admitted that it was your plan.
It did not work, even your MSM admit that now.

If it’s bs, why haven’t you conquered Ukraine? Why is your GDP smaller than California? It’s even smaller than Texas!

Our GDP is not smaller than that of California.
Have you conquered Afghanistan yet? Vietnam? Syria? Cuba?
We will liberate Ukraine from you.

it still wouldn't justify Russia's depraved violence against Ukraine
Fuck!
You fucking started this war! You!

Citation: "Trust me, bro." :rolleyesa:

That's the whole problem. Russia started the war. And nothing you have posted has ever offered any evidence for any other possible truth.

Russia's motive has always been obvious. Russia wanted to steal land. Did they talk to Ukraine about some grievances before illegally stealing Crimea? No. They just stole it. Did they talk to Ukraine about grievances before illegally sending Russian soldiers into Donbass disguised as local rebels to terrorise the people and murder Ukranian peace keepers? No. Why? Because Russia doesn't have any grievances against Ukraine beyond the fact that Ukraine is holding land and wealth that Putin wants to steal.

If there were some other motive for Russia to invade Ukraine, they would have made demands to address those grievances at appropriate times. But they never did. Putin doesn't like Ukraine's President? Does Russia think Ukraine's elections were compromised? Did he ask Ukraine to hold new elections with international election supervision? No. Because it isn't about Ukraine's leadership and it never was. Is Putin worried Ukraine is full of Nazis? Did he ask Ukraine to purge the Nazis from it's government, it's military, and it's populace? No. Because it isn't about Nazis and it never was.

He didn't ask for anything because what he wanted wasn't something that Ukraine would ever give him willingly. So he enacted the only plans which he could use to achieve that outcome which was stealthy underhanded military attacks. First to steal Crimea, then Donbas, then Kiev. The last failed and he has been paying in Russian blood and treasure ever since. And simpering fools lick up his lies to assuage their guilt over their complicity in his heinous crimes.

I'll take what Gerashchenko says with a grain of salt, though he be educated in economics, he is an advocate for the Ukrainian government. What is real for Russia is the civilian labor shortage, increased input costs, and high borrowing costs, currently at 21% and likely to rise further.

A somber outlook for the Russian economy Seems like a pretty legit nonUS source.

Buyers of Russian weapons have now seen them in action. Who the hell would want to buy an S-400 when it can't even defend itself? To make matters worse, it has shown the world (especially China) that even the US's older systems are effective and robust.

Russia's economy is being primitvised: dig, drill, and pump.

Russia's high interest rates make export contracts unprofitable, says Rostec head

That's the whole problem. Russia started the war
Nope, According to official EU report US started the war.
And ukrainians (in current Kiev regime) and georgians in former Saakashvili junta both confirm that US is responsible for the start of the war.
And while we at at it, No, Vietnam did not start the war with US, US did.
And no, there were no WMD in Iraq, it was all a lie by US administration.
And it was US who illegally invaded Yugoslavia.
And it was US who started/provoked USSR Afghan War.
US provoked Iran-Iraq war.
US is responsible for all wars in Latin America.
WW2 war with Japan? ...... You kinda provoked it too.

Turkey, India, China all want S-400. Turkey are extremely happy with it. it's way better than US crap called Patriot.
This conflict has shown that.
And speaking of S-400, just today, Regime in Washington gave up on S-400 in Turkey.
They realized that Turkey would rather leave NATO than give S-400 up.

You are talking absolute bullshit!

There are clear signs that Russian economy is headed toward a collapse. Resources are being used to the maximum. This means they will be increasingly expensive for enterprises, and not everyone will be able to afford them. Prices are increasing, and the Russian Central Bank cannot stop them. Do the computer nerds in Russia know how to trim a message-board quote down to a dozen paragraphs or two? Instead of -- I dunno -- trying to set a new record for longest multi-quote? Or are all the IT specialists with 3-digit IQs committed to cyber-warfare, troll farms, and other high-value tasks for their Putin-Trump overlords?

Major Russian mining and metals company Mechel announced the suspension of one of its enterprises - Olzherasskaya-Novaya mine in Mezhdurechensk. The reason is problems with the sales market.

Major Russian corporation PJSC Gazprom made a record net loss of $6.1 billion in 2023, becoming Russia's most unprofitable company for the first time in 25 years.

Your gdp is less than half of California, and smaller than Texas. And we did conquer Afghanistan and Vietnam and Cuba too. But we just left them eventually, because we don’t want them.

Your gdp is less than half of California, and smaller than Texas.
You can believe whatever you want. But World Bank, IMF and CIA disagree with you.

Russian GDP is 1.77x that of California. And We don't have fentanyl crisis like California.

There is this schizophrenic thing about western monkeys which think they are running the world. On one side they all say Russia is stupid, economically backward, military incompetent. On the other hand they say, Putin will conquer Europe if we let him win Ukraine.
It can't be both true.
