How Trump will Help America

I think it's pertinent what the second fellow said, that it wouldn't be a problem if he was curious. If he listened to books on tape, if he got his advisors to explain things in detail for him. But he doesn't even care about that.

In all fairness, it looks like he uses reading glasses, at least he is using them in this video...He can read...

Which is worse? Can't read or won't read?

Again, to me it is clear that he at least has in the past possessed decent reading skills. To me, it's also clear that he is experiencing some kind of intellectual decline that is also affecting his emotional stability. Someone who has accomplished what he has accomplished should not care a bit about crowd size or popularity except to (if petty), make note of the shame it was raining and that kept people away from his inauguration and to look at is as a mandate to do some bridge building, some reaching out because of the narrow margins by which he won the election. I seriously don't think he was that stupid and out of touch 20 years ago. I'm still in shock that the electorate proved itself to be that stupid and out of touch. But then: Kardashians. I dont understand that, either.

To me, it's also clear that he is experiencing some kind of intellectual decline that is also affecting his emotional stability.

I think it is more that he's discovered himself to be in a new role that he's unfamiliar with and has inadequate coping skills.

This is the first time in his adult life that he's not "the boss." Not only did he have sole control of his business empire, but control of the public narrative of his life. His brand was always the most important thing. Even his failures became famous. But he was always in charge. Now, paradoxically, he's the most powerful man in the world but finds that his authority is limited.

He's obviously furious that he can't just fire the judges who put the kibosh on his immigrant ban. He's likely annoyed by the fact that his cabinet picks require approval. And his reaction to the press reveals that he's simply beside himself over the fact that he no longer controls the narrative.

Getting back to the OP, those poor folks are going to learn the hard way that Trump's "common man" bit was just an ad campaign. An image used to get elected and that there's no substance whatsoever behind it. If they start paying attention, they'll discover that not only is Trump not just a regular guy, but he's the same sort of shady operator or sleazy contractor that has led them to lose their jobs in the first place. Go into a town, suck it dry for all the money you can, and bail out when the money goes away. That's Trump if you look behind the gaudy exterior, and we're going to have a 4 year long look.

But all the knots of intellectual discordance that people are going to tie themselves into while trying to simultaneously support the troops while talking about how this is the stupidest war anyone's ever gotten themselves into is going to be funny to watch. Unless, of course, you happen to be in the random country he declares war on, but that's a few percent of the planet at best.

That, and he pretty much hits all the bullet points for what defines a narcissist.

Of course, all this was eminently knowable before the election. But BENGHAZI!!!!!

Ya, that's a big issue. On the one hand, you want Trump supporters to abandon him and be welcomed into the opposition in order to grow its numbers and power. On the other hand, you want to let them know that they're fucking morons for buying into his bullshit in the first place and you don't want them on your side because this is all their fault. It's a conundrum.

While I agree with you that a man like him *should* not care about things like crowd-size, I think in the real world the sort of men who end up becoming like him are exactly the sorts that care about these petty things. Unfortunately, high political office and business achievement tend to attract narcissists, megalomaniacs, and sociopaths.

It's like athletes. Why do we see sex assault scandals involve athletes so often? Well, because exactly the sorts of people that have an advantage in sports - high testosterone aggressive types - are the sorts that are more likely to act that way in their personal lives.

Oh yeah. Trump is definitely the sort of man who has lived his entire life at the top of a sky-scraper with his name on it in big gold.

How will Trump help America?

Witch burnings, cross burnings, gay bar burnings. It'll make American nice, toasty and warm.

The man speaks off a teleprompter.

WATCH THE VIDEO!! No, he doesn't. He picks up a few words from it, can't keep up and starts ad-libbing. Really - watch it,, it's horrifying.

Here's a transcript from one of his campaign speeches :

"Look, having nuclear—my uncle was a great professor and scientist and engineer, Dr. John Trump at MIT; good genes, very good genes, OK, very smart, the Wharton School of Finance, very good, very smart—you know, if you’re a conservative Republican, if I were a liberal, if, like, OK, if I ran as a liberal Democrat, they would say I'm one of the smartest people anywhere in the world—it’s true!—but when you're a conservative Republican they try—oh, do they do a number—that’s why I always start off: Went to Wharton, was a good student, went there, went there, did this, built a fortune—you know I have to give my like credentials all the time, because we’re a little disadvantaged—but you look at the nuclear deal, the thing that really bothers me—it would have been so easy, and it’s not as important as these lives are (nuclear is powerful; my uncle explained that to me many, many years ago, the power and that was 35 years ago; he would explain the power of what's going to happen and he was right—who would have thought?), but when you look at what's going on with the four prisoners—now it used to be three, now it’s four—but when it was three and even now, I would have said it's all in the messenger; fellas, and it is fellas because, you know, they don't, they haven’t figured that the women are smarter right now than the men, so, you know, it’s gonna take them about another 150 years—but the Persians are great negotiators, the Iranians are great negotiators, so, and they, they just killed, they just killed us."

Parse that, grammar nazis!!

Trump gives America's 'poorest white town' hope

This article was fascinating. It describes the beliefs of people in this small town that they are entitled to have jobs brought to them. That they do not need to make jobs or ever move for a job, but that a President should fund a company so that a job can be delivered to their doorstep.

That they hate the direct welfare they've been given and what they really want is a big millionaire CEO to be given the welfare and then make them work for a dribble of it.

"Donald Trump's got all the money he'll ever need," says Steve Mays, judge-executive for the county and life-long Beattyville resident. The 49-year-old says he's never been more excited about a president than he is now. "Trump will be a president for the common man."

He doesn't have all the money he'll ever _want_ though, and that's why he is _not_ for the common man.

If we're going to do corporate welfare, can't we try giving it to the very smallest corporations and entrepreneurs? Micro loans to home businesses?

He may not be for the common man, but the Democrats certainly stopped being for them a long time ago. There's a reason the Dems lost in historically strong Democratic states. They sold out the unions. Clinton outsourced their jobs and Obama insourced them until there were fewer unions left to support the Democrats. That's 16 years out of 24 where they could have done something other then sell the middle and lower classes out for globalization. At least we get cheaper goods from Chinamart and shoddy construction to make up for it.

Say what you want about people trying something different being stupid or naieve, but voting for the Democrats hasn't done squat for them for decades.

Washington DC is already warming up nicely, with the heat given off from all the pants that are on fire.

Question: Can we arrest them for indecent exposure after their pants burn off? They can't vote for bad stuff from jail.
