Is it very careless to lend someone a gun?

So then they go pass one, get their own license (if needed), and buy their own gun. What's the problem? I reject the claim that a gun ever "needs" to be lent.

What would strike me as a quite reasonable case is because they had something planned and their gun was in the shop.

If the "something planned" is a bank robbery, then you have a great point. The range I go to will rent you guns... after the background check and while a dozen armed persons are all in attendance.. but not to take away from their oversight. no.fucking.chance. And if you are not a member that has shot there before... then they would not rent (or lend) a gun to you... know why?
Suicide by Range... it's a thing. Ranges experience the suicidal person from time to time, and their policy is not to lend a gun to a stranger. You need to be part of a group to rent from most places... and no place would ever let you walk out the door with it.
