Rupert Murdoch's son James has resigned from News Corp's board of directors, saying he disagreed with some of the editorial and strategic decisions made by the company.

To provide a bit of context, here is a clip showing how irresponsible the Murdoch media was in reporting the bushfires in Australia (fuck remember those?). It also goes a long way in explaining why people like angelo believe what they do. Although it isn't explicitly said, I suspect the opinions of prominent columnists during this pandemic was the tipping point for young James and he wants nothing to do with News Corp anymore.

Personally, I think the repercussions of this will be a doubling down on far right rhetoric, with Rupert Murdoch feeling nostalgic towards the golden age when people like Roger Ailes was working for him. News Corp is more and more becoming like a cult than a media conglomerate, and dissenting opinions will not be tolerated.

To extrapolate on the Murdoch/Davros analogy, the Daleks exterminated Davros because he wasn't extreme enough. I can see News Ltd take a life of its own and become more ideologically pure than Murdvros. They already have polar opposite views on issues like immigration.

I dunno about Patooka, but I certainly would. Which is a major reason why I could never be in his place.

One of the many problems with business as it is run today is that it encourages sociopathic behaviours. It's possible to build up a small business, while remaining kind and generous; But to make it big - billionaire style big - you must have the lack of empathy necessary to crush your opponents and competitors, internal and external, and to fuck over employees, suppliers, and even customers. And to do it while smiling and telling everyone how much you care for them.

This is often presented as a good thing. It's not. And it's far from normal. Highly "successful" people (as measured by wealth) are either incredibly lucky (usually as a result of fortunate choice of parents), or total cunts who should probably be in jail, or secure psychiatric care, in a civilised society.

Absolutely. People don't watch SKY or FOX to be informed. The viewers want to be entertained. Two pundits yelling at each other is cheap television. Also, having a loyal opposition makes slipping in propaganda more palatable.

That might be true, but the scary thing is that they think that they are being informed. And being informed by an unbiased source.
