An 8th grade student's choice to wear a shirt with the word "Feminist" on the front, was edited out in a final school picture. The student wore the shirt in the front row of the traditional class photo.

The word was doctored from the photo to prevent any unintended controversies, said the school's principal, Kendra Young. The shirt itself doesn't break any school dress code rules, and the student has worn it to class in the past without problems, she concedes.

I'm betting they didn't edit out anyone cross necklaces.

If you're afraid that a t-shirt with the word "Feminist" is something controversial, then it's actually you yourself who is the problem.

To be fair, it is empirically true that it is "controversial" in that many people strongly disagree with it and its an issue at the heart of some heated political issues.

Then again, so is Christianity, thus to be consistent they need to edit out all religious jewelry.

No wonder people opt to home school when the schools system is run by brainless bureaucrats.

Right, it's the American flag on clothes you need to ban.

No, proper etiquette has American flag clothes set on fire with the wearer in them, not banned. Stop being so gauche.

There was an actual case recently where a school banned the American flag on clothes. Went to the Supreme Court, I think.

ksen must have posted about it.

So is she saying that the current controversy was her intention, or is she admitting her incompetence?

Must be nice to live in the Bubble where context has no meaning.
