Mass shooters aren't crazies

Well. Road rages are surprisingly common, yet they are completely stupid and irrational. I think there is a reason for this.

Yes, and while there's a continuum going from being slightly annoyed to giving someone the finger to yelling at the person to grabbing a gun from your glove compartment and gunning down four or five people in the area, there is a point on that continuum where you pass the line into the insane. Having causative factors which help lead into insane behavior doesn't make those behaviours less insane.
They are not insane, not in any medical sense anyway. You can call it "insane" but point is, given the "right" circumstances a large percentage of population can become "insane". If you piss one off enough one will eventually snap.

Over time is one focuses on their fears and spends their waking hours finding ways to stoke their fears one can begin to become angry and irrational. And if you mix in something like schizophrenia or even just manic depression you can end up with a very frightened irrational and potentially dangerous individual.

Anger is the natural response to fear. It is the fight part of fight or flight.

Hard to control people turning themselves into crazed fearful monsters.

Well then, what is your definition of "insane in a medical sense"? It appears to be vastly different than mine. And yes, if you piss off enough people, one will eventually snap because the more people you piss off, the greater the chances that you'll piss off a crazy person.

If one hundred people get rear ended by another car and the first ninety-nine bitch and yell at the guy who hit him and the last guy shoots him in the face, there's something wrong with that last guy.

Be careful who you yell at.

So then the Second Amendment of the Constitution give Americans the right to walk around armed to the teeth, just waiting for a precipitating factor so they can rack up a body count. I know some gun nuts who actually think having a gun makes them safer...though it appears they haven't added the words..."around others." I thank Loren for letting us know this is "sane" behavior because I am afraid to tell him his idea is pure unadulterated bullshit. (Don't want to get shot.)

We no longer live in a world where the young are taught and made to be respectful to their elders. You are free to speak your mind but not in a manner that causes ears to ring; hence, don't be afraid to tell him about his idea, but don't yell.

What do you think I just did?

Yes there certainly is. But I would not jump to insanity.

I like how the "extremely overvalued belief" is defined and the example of anorexia given. Are our politicians aware how different this is from the delusional and what we define as mental illness? Has "keeping guns out of the hands of the mentally ill" just become a political football? I cannot believe that they are not aware that these people reside on this side of sanity. These three articles paint an ugly picture of individuals consumed by a singular belief and the only way to get people to listen is to go bigger and bolder than the last.
The media turning away is our best course.
Why make a statement if no one is listening?
Don't know what the article says but anorexia is a biological brain disorder NOT an "overvalued belief".

OK, what's the non-crazy reason to do that?
A friend of mine was just assaulted in a McDonalds of all places. That doesn't mean the guy who assaulted him was crazy. What if instead of shooting him he'd just punched him out? Did the use of a firearm automatically make him insane? There are an infinite number of scenarios that could have led to a guy doing this, none of which would indicate the guy was insane. Wrong certainly, but not insane.

Assault is much different than killing, though.

Yes, but we're not talking about any of those scenarios. We're talking about the scenario where somebody rear ends you and you pull out a gun and shoot him for it. Walk me through the rationale for that which isn't insane.

According to latest research 30% of white people have warrior gene, so chances are much better than you think.

Easy. His fat wife was pissing him off constantly for years, his former boss was a stupid asshole and screwed him with money and promotions and he was driving from the last job interview which went badly (and yes it was fault of the interviewer) when some asshole on Tesla rear ended him.

And there's an actual reason why things like that are called being driven crazy. It's because the succession of events takes a person into a state where he's crazy. That's why people in a situation like that can plead temporary insanity - because all that shit made them insane.

I honestly can't see how you can read your post and see you describing someone who's having a normal reaction as opposed to an abnormal reaction.

But what is a norm? As I said 30% of (white) people are genetically predisposed to go to your definition "insane". Are you prepared to call 30% of population abnormal? and among blacks it's 60% by the way.
The point of links in the original post is that these people are pretty normal statistically speaking and it would be mistake to just call them "insane" and be done with it.

You could read the article. You could even read the paper the article is based on. It doesn't appear that many have done either. They are just commenting on comments.

IMHO, even more people than that are completely out of their fucking minds.
