Maxine Waters cancels events due to lynching threats from Trumpstains

But I thought we were all going to be civil now? No meal interruptions, no lynching threats.

It's all Obama's fault. Racism didn't exist until Obama got elected.

Also, this isn't an example of racism. You're the real racist for complaining about it.

Death threats are just ideas, like how Nazis want genocide. Why do you hate freedom of people to have ideas? Your regressive leftism is just making more Nazis. So you should be silent.

Maxine can start to understand what Trump goes through on a daily basis.

Except that so far, there have not ben any comedians making jokes about cutting her head off. At least not yet.

Maxine Waters does not get protection by the Secret Service: Trump does.

Maxine Waters gets more than anyone's share of abuse and ridicule. Death threats are not new to her (http://www.latimes.com/politics/essential/la-pol-ca-essential-politics-updates-man-who-threatened-to-kill-rep-maxine-1523475633-htmlstory.html). Sean Hannity goes after her on his show regularly now with vicious lies.

Whether one approves or not of Ms. Waters or Mr. Trump, neither one deserves death threats.

Waters doesn't need the Secret Service she has Antifa to protect her.

In response to horrible things he initiated and are entirely his fault, not in response to horrible things someone else initiated.

Like the "joke" he made about encouraging "2nd Amendment people" to murder his opponent?

I consider Maxine Waters a valuable treasure to the cause, and would consider joining an organization that would fund sending her a limousine and TV cameras to follow her around as she speaks.

Someone doesn't want to address the op about death threats, just rip on a politician.

What needs to be addressed about "death threats"? Like most people, I am against them.

Fortunately only the Bernie Bros have gone so far as to actually attempt to murder actual members of congress.

Can we come up with a better term to describe written threats that are hollow attempts to troll and intimidate verses actual stated threats where imminent harm is possible?

One thing I tire of is "threats" being lumped together that are clearly trolling harassment with ones that are of legitimate concern where security is required. The Internet has allowed any untold number of idiots online (as well as BOTs) to play the "big man" and make "threats" that haven't a single shred of likelihood of being carried out. Now, if a person is caught making a threat regardless of intent, they should be held accountable for making a threat and wasting police resources, but there have been so many fake threats made online that it gets tiring about hearing about how people are threatening people. The word is "trolling". I don't envy security personnel who can't make such an easy distinction between the two.

Is that supposed to a joke?
"Trolling remark" is the better term.

The thing is, those 'clearly trolling' harassment threats can become more focussed threats with intent to actual harm. And the trolling threats contribute to actual threats by normalizing and emboldening such threats and attempts--and successes.

That guy in Annapolis had been making threats for years, for example.

There's a lot of ground between someone on the internets saying "you should shut up and die" and what that guy in Annapolis was doing.

I looked for some facts about what actually happened here, but there doesn't seem to be much out there beyond what Maxine Waters is spewing out.
