How many human lives and families could have been saved during about fourteen hundred years (i.e. since the revelation of the Qur’an) if the people did listen to the Qur’an, the message of Allah to the mankind:

THE MEANING OF THE GLORIOUS QURAN By M M Pickthall
002.219 They question thee about strong drink and games of chance. Say: In both is great sin, and (some) utility for men; but the sin of them is greater than their usefulness. And they ask thee what they ought to spend. Say: that which is superfluous. Thus Allah maketh plain to you (His) revelations, that haply ye may reflect.

005.090 O ye who believe! Strong drink and games of chance and idols and divining arrows are only an infamy of Satan's handiwork. Leave it aside in order that ye may succeed
005.091 Satan seeketh only to cast among you enmity and hatred by means of strong drink and games of chance, and to turn you from remembrance of Allah and from (His) worship. Will ye then have done ?

Quick question: why don't you have Allah's guidance listed, rather than human, secular, and religious books? Can't Allah guide us personally?

Thank you for concerning yourself about my soul, but i am perfectly happy taking my chance on drinking beers and playing poker with my friends once in a while.

And how many more lives could have been not only saved, but enormously improved, if Allah had just made alcohol good for us! You know, being omnipotent and all.

Yea if we had some solid religious guidance and everyone wasn't a heathen at heart we could have saved a few car crashes, but we would have had way less fun.

Something about lumping strong drink and divining arrows together... It just makes it all seem, i dunno, random? Foolish?

Yes, lives could have been saved if SOME reason toned down the lure of alcohol. But I don't think the Koran is the best method. If we all had the same religion, we'd all be in about forty thousand different sects, and the death toll of the holy wars would more than made up the difference.

I'd rather see some solid guidance on alcohol use that didn't pretend to be sponsored by a skybeast who could have just made fermented grape juice as damaging as honey.

The question is: why do some people addicted to alcohol but others do not....why do some get addicted to smoking (which is a major source of disease and death) while others do not. Why do some overeat to the point where it leads to a host of chronic diseases and poor health, while others are able to control their diet...in other words, why do some have addictive personalities but others do not? Why did Allah do such a poor job of human genetics? Is Allah a poor Craftsman?

But in Paradise ...rivers of wine

A similitude of the Garden which those who keep their duty (to Allah) are promised: Therein are rivers of water unpolluted ... and rivers of wine delicious to the drinkers. --( Sura 47:15)

Surely the pious will be in bliss ... their thirst will be slaked with pure wine sealed. --( Sura 83:22,25)
