A case of don't believe a word I tell the Americans or the occupation. [Israel] Only believe what I tell you in private. Palestinian Pm Abbas.

Pope Francis walks with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas during arrival ceremony at presidential palace in BethlehemPope Francis provided a nice backdrop for a so-called “prayer summit” in the Vatican gardens on June 8th, attended by Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas and Israeli President Shimon Peres. “It is my hope that this meeting will mark the beginning of a new journey where we seek the things that unite, so as to overcome the things that divide,” Pope Francis said at the prayer ceremony. Prayers and readings were provided by Jews, Christians and Muslims, followed by remarks from the pope and the two presidents. Each set of prayers praised God for creation, begged forgiveness of sins and asked for peace in the Holy Land.

In an obviously orchestrated photo op, Presidents Abbas and Peres embraced in the presence of the pope. “Nice to see you,” Peres and Abbas said to each other in English. At the end of the ceremony, they took up shovels to add dirt to the base of a newly planted olive tree.

Politics were not intended to be on the agenda. This was a prayer summit, after all. Abbas even managed to avoid using the word “occupation,” at least according to the English translation of his prepared remarks. He offered a prayer for peace: “O Lord, bring comprehensive and just peace to our country and region so that our people and the peoples of the Middle East and the whole world would enjoy the fruit of peace, stability and coexistence.” He presented the Palestinians as a people “craving for a just peace, dignified living and liberty.” He also was quoted as saying: “We want peace for us and for our neighbors. We seek prosperity and peace of mind for ourselves and for others alike.”

In other words, Abbas laid it on very thick with nice words that sound like themes on which the Israelis and Palestinians could unite. But they are just hollow words. Interspersed was his divisive reference to Jerusalem as “our Holy City.” And the elephant in the room was his pact with Hamas.

As good as any! Why, are only left/socialist/green sources believable are they? Everything else is just propaganda from the extreme right is that correct?

And why should anyone take an institution that selects Glen Beck as "Man of the Year" serious in the first place? I'm not saying that "[e]verything else is just propaganda from the extreme right", but this particular source is, pretty uncontroversially too.

So Horrowitz makes a few controversial miss judgements means he's a nut job and everything he printouts should be ignored? But this isn't about him, this is about Palestinian duplicity.

I'm pretty sure when Abbas said "our Holy City" he meant Jews, Muslims, and Christians all think Jerusalem is holy ground. It was a statement of shared belief. That's the opposite of divisive.

You'd like to believe that. He has to be hard line otherwise he'd be overthrown. The man is a terrorist leader who seeks The West's support. If he said what he really thought he wouldn't get the time of day even from Obama.

Actually, the type of sources you will use as a reference is relevant to whether your claims are to be afforded any credibility. Are you not aware of the direct connection between Horowitz' Freedom Center and Robert Spencer? Not aware of that direct connection having been exposed by the Anti Defamation League and the Southern Poverty Law Center citing the Freedom Center and Spencer's Stop Islamization of America (SIOA) as hate groups? While the Spencer's Jihad Watch was a project under the Freedom Center's initiative.

By the way, what is your source to support this claim :

The man is a terrorist leader
You need to know that neither the Jewish Virtual Library nor Haaretz (both reputable Jewish sources) depict Mahmoud Abbas as a "terrorist leader". Further and considering that the Israeli paper Haaretz publishes in English (unless you limit your reading to anti Muslim hate groups publications), it would certainly balance out your claims if you read their online updated info/news where Haaretz certainly does not hesitate to headline Abbas' response to rocket launching by Hamas from the Gaza, urging them to stop, and Abbas' forces having arrested Hamas militants.

And why should anyone take an institution that selects Glen Beck as "Man of the Year" serious in the first place? I'm not saying that "[e]verything else is just propaganda from the extreme right", but this particular source is, pretty uncontroversially too.

Even though the report in this case seems to be accurate (you just linked to the front page, not whatever article you had in mind) so I'm not sure, that doesn't make your source any good.

Oh yeh, you can count on the Zionistic racist hateful misogynist Horowitz to be fair and balanced when it comes to the Arabs.

Horowitz knew, IMO, that he could make more money, get more exposure and grow his little hate filled empire if he hooked up with the 24/7 conservative detestable media machine. We all know that Horowitz is academically and scholarly deep seated. Just like a Victor Hanson he takes this pro-Israeli stance almost to the point of this Israel first then America second approach.

One reason is that it is political suicide in America to say anything negative in public about Israel or have a pro-Palestinian attitude. Groups like AIPAC, Christians United for Israel, Zionist Organization of America, et al., have deep pockets and control the reins of the collective propaganda machine that strongly influence and or dominate public opinion. Mr Horowitz realized this when he jumped ship from his family's ideology of socialism and intellectual Marxism. One can make more dough and garner more exposure if they jump on the neo-con, jingoistic, bandwagon. Well I am sure that seeing one of his friends end up dead in San Francisco Bay had something to do with it also.

It looks like the Pope pissed off a butt load of people, see above, when he decided to not land in Tel Aviv and spend more time with Abbas and in the occupied territories. I guess when the Pope touches a section of a 20 foot concrete wall topped with barb wire that is referred to as a "barrier" and makes a prayer for peace it just gets some people panties in a wad. The hatred and hostility for the Palestinian people in the occupied areas and Gaza is in of itself a human scar and a crime against humanity. And people like Horowitz would have the masses of Americans believe that Israeli's and America's policies have the same interest at heart.

But then where else on the planet can a country, our very good friend Israel, attack a USN ship, the Liberty, killing tens of Americans and get off scot free? Where can a country get financial aid in the form of weapons every year that are in turned used on the indigenous populations to horrific effect?

All Horowitz is doing is cashing in on this country's Middle Eastern propaganda polices that furthers his hate filled ideologies and fattens his pockets. But this is just my humble little opinion. There will NEVER be a Palestinian country as long as Israel has the backing of America.

David Horowitz is a spreader of anti-Arab propaganda and has been just that for many years. He unswervingly supports the increase of Israeli settlements on Arab lands. That includes and displacement or killing of Arabs to accomplish the goals of the Zionists. He is effectively blind to any human rights Arabs might have and is a good part of the problem. When you give this man your trust you are complicit in murder and ethnic cleansing. Israel has committed crimes against the Palestinian people constantly since before 1949. I remember quite clearly listening to Golda Mayer refer to Palestinians as "filthy savage animals," using that as an excuse to kill some of those "filthy savage animals" in the 50's. Frankly the rhetoric that comes out of Israel has not changed in effect, though it is a bit more codified. Israeli policies remain outside the realm of common human decency to this day. Abbas could be a saint and he would still be "betraying" Israel's hopes for a "peaceful" Apartheid nation in the middle east.

Horowitz is just a hack continuing to hack and mischaracterize a whole society of people.

There will never be a Palestinian state until it acknowledges the Israeli states right to exist.

I used to watch Jewish news shows on TV and marvel at how like American Mainstream News it was. Their news also does not cover or acknowledge Jewish atrocities in the occupied territories. Hmmm..why would that be? They still have some more stuff to take away from the Palestinians. I would be in favor of giving the criminal state of Israel a plea bargain deal and maintaining some sort of peace in the area, but I also believe a criminal state like Israel should have to reform before it can regain enough legitimacy to continue to exist. You and the Israeli press keep pickling a fresh batch of red herrings to keep the conflict going and therefor continue settling in Arab lands.

You are obviously watching this Jewish news with blinkers on. Your hatred for the Jews is blinding you to the truth. Surely you are aware that if you watch the Palestinian news you are going to get a one sided report as well.
You have given yourself away as a Jew baiter by calling Israel a criminal state.

The Palestinian government recognized Israel's right to exist more than 20 years ago. It is high time for Israel to recognize the right of the Palestinian State to exist.

That source is a hoot. The settlements are "the most spectacular red herring ever to have swum in the fetid waters of diplomacy"? What kind of a moron thinks Israel's expansion onto Palestinian land isn't the single greatest point of conflict in the West Bank?
