A supporter of Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump who was seen on video sucker-punching a black man in the face at a rally in North Carolina on Wednesday has been charged.
Cell phone video posted online showed a white man in a cowboy hat punching an unsuspecting black man during Trump’s rallying in Fayetteville. The victim, later identified as Rakeem Jones, also said that he was targeted with racial slurs.
WRAL reported on Thursday that 78-year-old John McGraw of Linden, NC had been charged with assault and battery and disorderly conduct.

John McGraw, the 78-year-old Donald Trump supporter caught attacking a protester, defended his actions in an interview posted by Inside Edition on Thursday.
“He deserved it,” McGraw said of the protester, Rakeem Jones. “The next time we see him, we might have to kill him. We don’t know who he is. He might be with a terrorist organization.”

Trump has notoriously told his followers he is OK with violence at his rallies, and if anybody gets arrested, he, Trump, will pay their legal bills.

So, now its put up or shut up time for Der Trumpster. Will he pay for the legal procedures on part of Grandpa Clown or weasel out of it? Will he disavow his stated support for violent reactions at his rallies, or weasel word about that and deny what he has in fact said?

Will this be a turning point for Trump or not? This is getting uglier and uglier, rally by rally. Can he get by just shutting up about it and changing the subject, or will the press push for him to change his tune?

Fortunately Trump isn't organized enough to put something like brown shirts or goon squads together to use in systematic brown and Muslim suppression and fear engendering.

Weasel out of it? I bet he spends more per day on lunches than 2000 times the cost of any such legal fees. If he doesn't pay, it won't be because of weaseling. Oh, and just so you're aware, if the press does push for him to change his tune, and if he does change his tune, no such tune changing will have a damn thing to do with any pushing by the press.

The question is, how many more times can Trump egg on his dogs? We don't see the violence at rallies for Bernie, Hillary, Tec Cruz or Marco Rubio. What then is the reason for repeated violence at Trump rallies? Seems to be Trump.

It is Trump. He's bloviated in front of his crowds about how he'd like to punch so and so in the face, that so and so deserves to get beat down, and he's also called people pussies. He's said he wants to institute a policy of killing the family members of terrorists. He's had reporters accosted and physically removed by his goons--and he rails against the media's right to ask questions.

He was a joke 9 months ago. Now he's just fucking scary.

What will his supporters do when he loses the election? They've been whipped into often violent frenzies and if the greatly esteemed Yahoo! boards are any indication, these fuckers aren't going to go quietly. Any result that doesn't end in a Trump Presidency will have been a fixed election and violent revolt is the top option. Yeah, saying something on the internet is one thing, and going out and doing it is another. But these are people who have also taken action by going to the rallies and being frighteningly frank when interviewed by reporters.

I genuinely fear what's going to happen the night of the election and the days and weeks after.

The worst part is, Trump is at the very least sympathetic to the idea of using violence against protestors. He probably loves the fact that one of his supporters engaged in violence.

That guy should not have punched the other guy, but he was only there to be disruptive, so I cannot summon too much outrage here.
One asshole hitting another.

By the way, I do not think there have been instances of Trump supporters disturbing Hillary or Bernie events. It seems the bad behavior is starting with left-wing disruptors.

Firstly, if anyone's rally needs to be disrupted, it's Trump's. Secondly, the protestor was walking out in an entirely non-violent and compliant manner. Why does that deserve to be met with violence, much less a cowardly sucker punch?

Why? Doesn't he have the same rights as any other candidate?

But before then he and his friends were disruptive. As I said, one asshole punching another. And it can't do much for Rakeem's street cred to be downed by a 78 year old either ...

I did not say he did. In fact, that was my very first sentence.

Considering he's an outright fascist and sympathetic to violence against protestors, I'd say he shouldn't even be able to run in the first place.

Today's rally could have some fireworks. Trump is in Chicago on the campus of UIC. Word is that the rally intentionally "oversold" (though tickets are free) tickets to the 7,000 capacity Pavillion in order to ensure no empty seats. That means thousands of Trumpettes could be left outside, making them angrier than they already generally are and confronted with a well organized protest of an expected 10,000 people.

So I wonder how people like GenesisNemesis would feel if a group of 10,000 Trump supporters descended on say Bernie rally instead. I am sure words "brown shirt tactics" would be used at least once. But as long as it's lefties doing the disturbing, it's a-ok, and not at all fascist, right?

Anyone is free to protest anyone else's rally, it's called freedom of speech. It is the person who uses violence in their demonstration that is displaying fascist tendencies.

If I'm not mistaken, Bernie Sanders not only called for the death and vivisection of a protester at one of his rallies, he ordered those in attendance to seize the stadium and to redistribute it to the people... after killing the workers in it first of course.

Poor Trump... no other candidate gets blamed for inciting violence.

That's a pretty big "If".

Trying to disrupt somebody else's speech is not free speech. Peacefully protesting outside is all right, but that's not what's been happening at these Trump rallies. By the way, when Democratic rallies had been disrupted it was from the left, not the right. Remember "bow down Bernie" and "I am not a superpredator"?

No, he meekly stood by while the disruptors were yelling for him to bow down to them.

As I said, I do not condone violence, but I do not condone disrupting either.

Trying to disrupt somebody else's speech is not free speech.

It certainly is, so long as it is done using legally acceptable speech. It may not be nice, but free speech does not need to be nice.

Peacefully protesting outside is all right, but that's not what's been happening at these Trump rallies.

You get protesters both inside and outside the Trump rallies, and both have been met with violence from trump supporters. There have also been people kicked out and/or assaulted inside Trump rallies who were not being disruptive. They just happened to have the wrong color skin, or wore the wrong type of clothing.

By the way, when Democratic rallies had been disrupted it was from the left, not the right. Remember "bow down Bernie" and "I am not a superpredator"?

So what? Where those protesters met with violence by Bernie's or Hillary's supporters for being disruptive?
