The church claims to have spent about $40 million per year on "welfare, humanitarian aid and other international projects", so 0.04% of this one fund (it's not their only one).

My favorite line in the article: "According to the complaint, Ensign’s president, Roger Clarke, has told others that the amassed funds would be used in the event of the second coming of Christ."

Because as we know, JC is going to need a huge bankroll to get shit done.

I drive by several of them weekly. They have large 'plant's that are basically huge storehouses of pasta/grains. In theory, they would be used in an emergency, but everyone seems to know that the church would try to reserve them for themselves.

I'm not sure if they realize that if it came to that, they would have to resort to pretty extreme violence to keep the general populace from getting to it.
