As the Title implies... these movies are quite different if taken backwards.

Gone with the Wind - Messiah performs miracles such as extinguishing the fires in Atlanta and resurrecting her husband and is fawned at by all those around her.

Jaws - Shark scares beach locals by throwing up people until they reopen the beaches.

The Fifth Element - Universe's greatest threat is expelled by spreading stones apart and then hero takes a nap.

Saving Private Ryan - Band of soldiers retreat from the beaches of Normandy, but not before leaving a private adrift in some random division.

Gidget - Teen surfer icon suffers from apparent head injury and slowly forgets how to surf.

12 Angry Men - Originally agreeing to not convict the defendant, the jury's discussions head towards conviction as jurors get convinced to convict.

Any James Bond Film - At least one woman is better off and alive instead of being dead.

Star Wars

An awards ceremony is interrupted by the nearby implosion of a nebula, which reveals a hidden battle station that many ships spend the rest of the movie trying to fly away from. Several are trapped inside and are almost killed by a samurai, but a space wizard suddenly pops into existence to rescue them. Nevertheless, they are obliged to leave their princess in a cell block on the battle station, and flee further and further into the wilderness of a desert planet, splitting up as they go.

Momento:

John Gammell (AKA John G/Jimmy G), a corrupt cop, was sent to investigate a former insurance claims adjuster's (Sammy) wife's (Catherine a diabetic) death. Upon investigating he found evidence that Sammy suffers from anterograde amnesia after an incident that resulted in him accidently overdosing his wife (who couldn't accept marriage to his amnesia) on insulin. Sammy however is in denial and is obsessed with finding his wife's real killer. John being a corrupt cop & feeling sympathy took advantage of Sammy's amnesia by providing him with a gun, clues & leading Sammy to believe that he (John) knew who his wife's killer was. John used Sammy in this way to kill two criminals. However his plans took an unfortunate turn when Sammy who remained obsessed, in denial & suffering from anterograde amnesia didn't remember any of it & ultimately convinced himself that killing John would avenge his wife.

I nailed it right... Right? :tomato:

Gotta be science fiction of some sort.
Let's see... a movie where a guy dies, then fights in WWII, finds love, becomes homeless and then is born to an old lady?
I'm stumped.

Raiders of the Lost Ark: a large cast of characters goes to great lengths to take a box from a government warehouse and bury it in Egypt.

But that's not how Raiders goes. It goes like this...

A guy starts with nothing. Then after a cast of characters goes to great lengths, the guy has a priceless treasure. Then after a cast of characters goes to great lengths, the guy has nothing again. Then after a cast of characters goes to great lengths, the guy has a completely different priceless treasure. Then after a cast of characters goes to great lengths, the guy has nothing again.

Point being, Raiders is ineligible according to the thread's rule: "these movies are quite different if taken backwards".

Finally, the curse is removed by the man who laid it. He's still obese, but now it's entirely his diet and lack of exercise to blame. In celebration, the fat slob goes out and runs over the Romani's daughter.

Eventually the Koala producer and his crazy lizard secretary are left alone, gazing wistfully at pictures of the planned reconstruction.

Star Wars

The movie starts with some sort of ceremony, where medals are given to people. Maybe some sort of sporting event like the olympics? Or a literary or science prize. We have no idea. Then these sportsmen/authors/scientists go fly out to space to celebrate, until a huge space station materializes out of nowhere. They have to take some swift evasive action near its surface to avoid collisions. One of the medalists and his hairy buddy says, "fuck this shit" and flies away almost immediately. The shorter fellow is apparently distracted by some hallucinations and he takes longer. But in the end, most of the fliers are able to get away safely.

Then they go back to the planet and wonder what the heck happened. A small robot shows blueprints of the mystery globe on a computer, so obviously they know something about it. The coward who flew away during the crisis comes back as if nothing happened. He flies the little guy, the princess, and two robots out of the jungle planet in his clunky space ship. The little guy is sad, maybe because he has to leave his jungle friends behind. They head for the giant space orb to find an old guy, who is the same person from the hallucinations from earlier, fight with a Darth Vader. After bumbling about in a garbage compactor disguised as robots, they all reunite and get back in their ship. Except for the princess who stays behind because she needs a vaccination against space covid.

Our olympic medalist heroes and the old dude seem confused, because they think there ought to be a planet where they are but there are just some asteroids. They shrug and head to a desert planet, where they end up fighting in a bar and split up again. The owner of the ship goes his own way, the old guy, the young dude, and the two robots continue their journey. The old guy retires in his cave eventually, the young man is reunited with his foster parents, and presumably lives happily ever after, and the droids find a space capsule in the desert which they use to fly to the orbit where the princess and Darth Vader are waiting for them. The end.

We never find out what the medals were for, except that it's probably not basketball. Maybe in a prequel.

Having won a contest, out heroes take a vacation to a large moon like station and enjoy some fighter racing. After the vacation they all get together to watch a slideshow of the vacation.

Afterwards, they fly away, give a large moon worm a tracheotomy, drop the princess off in prison, and pick up an old hitchhiker / surgeon who was heading to the same planet they were.

Surgeon helps cauterize an arm back into place and drops Luke off at home where he then sells the droids to buy power converters.

Your submission reminded me of:

Duel (1971)

After witnessing a horrific truck accident, traumatized businessman David Mann starts hallucinating visions of the doomed truck and driver, uncannily following him and getting involved in more horrific accidents. But with the help of many odd strangers he meets on a long road trip through the desert, he gradually recovers. His visions become gradually less violent in character, and less frequent. As the film ends, he sees the truck pass him on the highway one last time, and he sighs, knowing that he has come to accept the dangers of the road without being unhealthily obsessed with them.
