New blood for the Democratic Party

https://www.vox.com/2017/8/15/16059514/anna-langthorn-democratic-party-oklahoma

Anna Langthorn, the new chair of the Oklahoma Democratic Party, is only 24 years old — and that might be all you know about her based on national coverage of her successful campaign for the position in May.
But since Langthorn has taken office, Democrats in Oklahoma flipped two state legislative seats in special elections, and overthe last two months she’s begun the work of rebuilding the Democratic Party in a state in which President Trump won all 77 counties and the state overall by 36 points.
The special election wins for Democrats weren’t exactly normal elections. Both involved the resignation of the Republican in office; one was facing sexual harassment claims and the other was facing three felony counts of solicitation with a 17-year-old boy. It remains to be seen how the party will fare in more typical elections. But while it’s an uphill battle for Langthorn and her party — the state won’t be turning blue anytime soon — these wins have given Oklahoman Democrats some hope.

Democrat Allison Ikley-Freeman won Tuesday’s special election to represent Oklahoma’s Senate District 37, beating out anti-choice Republican Brian O’Hara to flip yet another state legislative seat from red to blue during President Trump’s first year in office.
The win marks the fourth time a seat in Oklahoma’s legislature has changed hands in favor of a Democrat since Trump won the White House.

That's good news. We do need new blood. Elizabeth Warren, Biden and Bernie are just too old!

Yabut now, he's used goods.

Hang on, new blood is coming.
Not really in the national party where septuagenarians like Nancy Pelosi are hanging on to power. In the House, Pelosi is 77 and her whip Steny Hoyer is 78. Compare that to Kevin McCarthy (maj. leader) and Steve Scalise (maj. whip) who are both 52. Paul Ryan is not even 50 yet.
Chuck Schumer is younger than McConnell, but he is 66 and thus already Medicare eligible. His whip Dick Durbin is 72.

And Joe Biden is seriously talked about when discussing who should run against Trump in 2020. Biden will be just two weeks shy of 78 on election day in 2020.

Was.

nice ad for Saturday Night Live. What a great show. It is so rare that Dems do something worthy of parody, and it is nice to see SNL have a balanced 'make fun of everyone' approach. The skit was fair... and funny.. like pretty much all of their skits...

I had stopped watching SNL pretty much from the 90's to just a couple years ago... The political landscape now-a-days is just chock full comedic opportunity... and laughter is and always has been a great healer.

There is a lot of silly hand-wringing on this considering the demographics of the democratic party are DECADES younger than the republican

That's good... but the Dem leadership sure doesn't reflect that. I expect it to change.
